An Open Letter to Our World:
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT MUCH OF WHAT WE THOUGHT ABOUT GOD IS WRONG?

It’s not a small thing to be wrong about God.  And if nearly everyone on the planet is wrong about God, it’s really not a small thing.

If nearly everyone on the planet has mistaken notions about God, then nearly everything that everyone on the planet is doing will not work the way it was intended.

This is because the basis of so much of what they’re doing is found in so many of their beliefs about God.

     Think not?

     Think again.

Nearly all of civilization’s modern laws emerged from the early rules and laws of some faith tradition. Nearly all of humanity’s moral codes derive from the mandates of a religion. Nearly every political movement and economic theory is based on ideas of justice, right-and-wrong, and basic fairness first espoused by spiritual teachers.

Even those who don’t believe in God are impacted and guided by many of the fundamental principles placed into the Cultural Story by those who do.

And a striking number of the personal decisions made by billions of individuals across the globe are made within the context of what they believe to be the purpose of life, what they believe happens when this life is over, what they believe about God, and about what God wants.

So it’s not a small thing to be wrong about God.

Proposition: Not one of the systems we have put into place to make life better on this planet is working.

     Wait. It’s worse.

Not only have the systems we have put into place failed to produce the outcomes for which they were intended—they are actually producing exactly the opposite.

I have made this point before, in a number of books I have written. I believe it is worth repeating, with emphasis.

Our political systems are actually increasing disagreement and disarray. Our economic systems are actually increasing poverty and the gulf between the rich and the poor. Our ecological systems are actually increasing environmental degradation.

Our health care systems are actually increasing inequality of access to modern medicines and health care services. Our educational systems are actually increasing the knowledge gap. Our social systems are actually increasing disparity, disharmony, and injustice.

And, perhaps saddest of all, our spiritual systems are actually increasingrighteousness, intolerance, anger, hatred, violence, and war.

If the improvement of human life upon the earth were a laboratory experiment, it would have long ago been considered an abject failure.

     Indeed, an appalling disaster.

Not everyone agrees. There are those who believe that humanity is evolving to higher and higher levels of sophistication and achievement, producing a better and better quality of life for all the members of our species.

It is possible that they would not, however, be among the 842 million people (one in eight in the world) who do not have enough to eat. It is certain that they would not be the parents of the over 650 children who die of starvation every hour.

They would presumably not be among the 20.9 million women and children who are bought and sold into commercial sexual servitude every year.

They would also, one imagines, not be among the over three billion people who live on less than $2.50 a day, or the billions who have no access to health care. (Some 19,000 children die each day from preventable health issues, such as malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia.)

They would probably also not be among the 1.7 billion people who lack clean water, or the 2.6 billion without basic sanitation, or the 1.6 billion people—a quarter of humanity—who live without electricity.

That’s right. In the first quarter of the twenty-first century, 2.6 billion people live without toilets, and 1.6 billion without electricity.

How is this possible?, you might ask. And that is a very good question.

It is an especially good question given that humanity imagines itself to be a “civilized” species. To the people in the above categories, the “civilization of Civilization” has not even begun.

A planet where 5 percent of the population owns or controls 95 percent of the wealth and resources—and where most of that 5 percent think this is perfectly okay, even as unconscionable numbers languish in lack and suffering—would not seem to be a planet on which a great deal of humanitarian advancement has been achieved.

All of this is possible because of the collective values of those people who can do something about it. And where do those values come from? I suggest they derive in large part from the well-intentioned, but mistaken, beliefs about God held by many human beings—including those who do not believe in God at all.

Does anybody care that our species has been such a failure—or why?

Does anybody imagine it has not been?

Does anybody want to know how this whole situation can be turned around in the blink of an eye?

Does anyone want to know how his or her own personal life can be changed for the better with the embracing of a single idea?

Do you? Do you want to know?

Humility is not one of Organised Religions major attributes ! It’s a seriously primitive race that thinks we have got all the answers and obfuscates discussion.

The Human race is failing . Denial is a powerful tool ?

Look forward to the new book love the quotes from The New Revelations ,thanks for giving us a few samples Neale .Thanks for being here ,no I said thanks for being here and going first.

I am confused, if our ideas about God are wrong and for the most part responsible for our mindset in establishing a society that embellishes true meaning and the ability to persevere, then why bring God into the arena at all?

Especially when nobody even knows if God does indeed exist and if there was a God are we even qualified to speak on their behalf? I assure you that in order to translate any ideological argument about something there must be proof, even more so with today’s society.

Neale, can you honestly deny this truth? I admire your goal of change but I honestly doubt that it is possible when nobody on this Planet actually knows who we are yet and this is fact. Any attempt just placates the circumstances with more of the same rhetoric.

I look forward to any reply from you.

well the thing about it is that , what we are doing is not giving us the right result , there are too many things going wrong. i am from a religion where majority of the Iman’s do not believe in you asking questions, where you are suppose to accept what ever information is giving to you! i believe there is a God, i believe there is an accepting God that loves you for who ever you are, a GOD that allows us to chose our diversity learn in it and unify in it. we need to keep asking questions and changing our mindset to accepting true meanings as the come.

You speak of God as though he/she/ it is something separate from yourself. Neale’s books put forth the idea of oneness with god, yet he writes about a personal god that has human characteristics. The word “god” is a symbol that implies separation, and while Neale is trying to change the definition of that symbol, I think it would be more beneficial to remove “god” from the discussion and talk about something without all the baggage – like “life” or “consciousness.” (But I guess “god” sells books).

“why bring God into the arena at all?” Great question. The symbol that the word “god” represents means too many things to too many people, and has too much repugnant baggage. Bringing a new “nice god” into the arena, just provides one more division, one more separation, one more reason for people to disagree with each other about what the symbol “god” means. (But it might sell books).

Some people claim God does not exist. Some seem to be confused. Some others try to find answers if their ideas about God are right or wrong. Among those are the ones who rely on somebody else’s answers as if to prove to themselves they have been right. Whereas some are still looking for the answers, some others state they have already found them. Where do you find yourself in the astonishing variety?

    Do you need a proof?

And what, when you acknowledge to yourself – you do indeed have the answer? What, when you trust yourself – trust your inner knowledge? Do you still need the proof? Do you still need others to hear you are right? If not somebody else, whom do you trust fully? Who do you know best? Who makes the free will decisions? Who do you listen to when you are alone?

When you are Perfect enough in Someone’s eyes, are you Perfect enough in yours? If not, Who are you like and who do you aim to be like? Who can make the difference, who can make the change? And when you finally see it, who are you? Who and what do you experience?

Now, how do you understand ‘Thou shalt have no other gods before me.’ ?

A very profound thought out excursion into the mind of Humanity and exactly why God can not play an essential role in any of our lives until Knowing becomes the main reason for it.
This is called proof and without proof there is no fact and without fact there is no proof. Therefore reason must be attained first.

I too appreciate the art of Philosophy, but when did it become the truth. Is this not what any talk about God really is?

Trust is achieved through fact, isn’t it?

Yes we have gotten it wrong somewhere, deep down inside us we know, but how many of us are willing to start asking questions , change the way we think and let go of those ‘material things’ we believe make us happy or we believe make us complete? we cant be complete if part of us are suffering! when we start believing that we are one, that the human race is one, and we are all link to one another then things cant change. we cannot build a safe heaven for just 5 percent of the world while the remaining 95% are struggling, it just cant work and we cannot be safe when other members of our race are not, we cannot protect and love our children fully when so many children are not loved nor protected, we cannot ignore our neighbors and have everything, it just cannot work….we are one and the whole must be loved.

Has not the concept of ‘God’…’A’ God, many Gods, He-God, She-God, etc…not produced ‘a common sense’-ability among human herds? ‘It’ exists for Us so that We are not entirely weighted with feeling of blame or responsibility for our/Our activities…our Beingness, Here. As well, those who produced of the concept(s), saw value in the steering mechanics…the ability to move a mass of people in a direction that was functional in operating an intelligent Society with a set of morals & goals, vs. simply being a herd of critters wandering for food sources & territories.

Originally, this common sense was Idealized to ignite creativity, provide hope, manage balances & growth…And It very well did this! Unfortunately, the minds of Idealists were as primitive as the herd, & holding Alpha-state within such is a constant ‘battle’. Welcome to the production, as their idea of ‘It’ produced the Today Show.

Neale & others, are presenting Us with finer alternatives…Functional Understandings…a re-Seeing of common sense-ability. Not by being dominated by a concept, but by being the concept It’s Self…our/Our Selfs. The idea to give us back to our Selfs…Give us back our/Our responsibility entirely, is a power-packed way of establishing a truly intelligent specie, through co-operating Our beingness. We are moving from needs of blame to shifting/adjusting for functionality.

This movement is a project in process…’It’ is The Happening of Life…’We’ are parts of It happening…All stuff is Life. We may or may not see the results of Our project, but most assuredly is it a wiser way to plant the seeds for future pastures of Our herd.

Namaste’, Beloveds…There is a buffet of thought food in Neale’s writes…Eat heartily, & share freely. <3

Isn’t there more to life than having toilets and electricity and money? Shouldn’t we measure Civilisation by how much happiness and cordiality we experience, rather than how we dispose of our fecal matter? I personally haven’t a lot in the way of physical and financial stuff and I like it that way. Nor do I begrudge the 5% who are rich beyond imagination and hoard it for themselves. Whatever. 😉

When you have a collective world that is addicted to negative drama both unconsciously & even consciously, it takes a lot to crack this dysfunction.

The fear is, if we get life right with less struggle & more fulfillment, we might just coast & things will be less exciting, interesting & thus we have to keep the negative drama going or that game will be over & what do we do then?

I think this is at least a big possible problem we have around why we don’t have a good life. For me personally, when we get rid of most of the negative drama & needless struggle, we will just be starting to live life as it was meant to be.

Keep educating Neale, the world cries for a better way.

God is love and that love is unconditional, We have been taught that God is vengeful, angry and judgmental and that is absolutely not true. We are loved more than we could ever imagine, no matter what we have done or said. The time has come for us to start reading, learning and having our own personal relationship with God. We need to love each other unconditionally and be willing to help each other when the need arises. That’s what going to change this world and make it a better place. So many times we look at what people of the past have done and said to make this world a better place but the time has come for us to look at ourselves in the mirror and ask ourselves what can I do to make this world a better place and do it. We all have God in us and with us and with knowing that all things are possible.

I personally believe that God is everything and everyone. With that being said I don’t believe the Bible or Quran to be wrong, I believe them to be those brothers and sisters interpretation of God. There is no right or wrong book out there about how to get back to heaven, its all about one’s personally belief and faith. Cause all roads lead back to heaven in my personal opinion.

The problem is that everyone has different opinions and interpretations of these books and the personal god(s) they describe. Neale’s approach is just one more opinion; one more interpretation added to the great multitude of opinions and interpretations already out there. It’s just one more slice of separation – a tastier version to be sure – but it’s just another slice of an imaginary pie.

I’m not questioning your answer, because I think it’s much better to “know” than to “believe,” but how do you “know”? What has led you to this conclusion? I’m uncomfortable with the word “heaven” just as I am with the word “god” because of all the baggage associated with it – but I think for some individuals (not me yet) it is possible to “know” what happens after we move on from this physical matter reality (PMR). How do you “know”? (If you don’t mind sharing).

I try almost daily to “know” using meditation, but so far I’ve remained pretty firmly stuck in the here and now of this PMR. Since I don’t “know,” I can only “think.” To “believe” is to admit not knowing and to close off attempts to know – because believers believe they have the answers and therefore stop looking for them. Believing is one of the worst things we can do. (And it’s unfortunate that some of the songs I really like have lyrics like “don’t stop believing!”)

          2. Leon Jackson Avatar
            Leon Jackson

i know because of my faith. I think to many times we trust others faith instead of our own. We all have our own creative minds and abilities to do that which we want to do, but we let others talking us out of it by telling us what we can’t do. We are more powerful than we could ever imagine. We can see heaven before us if we open our eyes and really see. You have to trust and believe in yourself brother.

          3. Patrick Gannon Avatar
            Patrick Gannon

That’s not the answer I was hoping for, Leon. I have no faith in faith. A faith or belief is simply an acknowledgement that there is a lack of knowledge, of knowing. It’s like “want.” It simply acknowledges the lack of something – real knowing.

I was hoping you would relay experiences based on astral projection or similar out-of-body consciousness based personal experiences that brought you to “know” rather than believe, as some people claim. I would have listened to that with an open mind. To say that you “know” something because you have faith, just means you don’t really know – you just believe. Beliefs keep us from seeking knowledge because we think we already have it. I want “knowing” not believing.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts though.

          4. Leon Jackson Avatar
            Leon Jackson

I totally disagree with that statement. Belief is what allows you to see. If you dont believe something, you can’t see it. For example, you see something in the paper that on sale at a store, you go there because you believe that its going to be there when you get there. When you arrive sure enough there it is. Now what caused you to go there, you believed that what you wanted was there and sure enough it was. That’s also called faith and we all have it, its just a matter of what we put our”faith ” into. We don’t need to have a out of body experience to see heaven, we can see it whenever we want to see it all we have to do is choose to see it.My defintion of heaven may not be your definition of heaven but its my heaven that I see when I choose to see it.

          5. Patrick Gannon Avatar
            Patrick Gannon

Actually, Leon, when I see an ad in the paper, I go down to the store because I “think” the item is going to be there when I get there. Based on past experience, knowledge about how the marketing system works, and using logic and reason, I would have good reason to think that there is a high probability that the item I want will be there. However I don’t “believe” it at all. It may not be there. It may be sold out, it may have been a misprint, the store may have burned down. I have no faith that the item will be there, but I do have a reasonable expectation because of what I “know.” I go down to the store, not because I believe the item will be there, but because I have a reasonable expectation to think that it will be there.

There is a difference in the two approaches. With belief I stop seeking knowledge. With belief I assume that I already have knowledge. With thinking, I know I don’t have all the knowledge so I pick up the phone and call the store and ask about the item. With thinking, I continue to seek knowledge. With belief my search for knowledge is dead in its tracks.

Our society could benefit from a discussion about the differences between believing vs knowing. We’ve glorified belief, and it’s kept us from seeking knowledge.

It doesn’t matter whether or not one believes in God. It seems to me that the entire Conversations with God story is ultimately singular in purpose: To bring humanity into a new era of lasting Peace and Prosperity. I personally have zero concern that you and I differ in our beliefs about God… I just ask that we agree that no one should force beliefs on another person. Another thing about Neale’s writings that I feel compelled to mention is that it’s my opinion that it also doesn’t matter whether or not he made the whole thing up. I personally do not believe that he falsified anything, but he has so many good things to say that are so profoundly spiritual and useful and could in my opinion save the human race and the world. So it matters not from which path we get to the top of the mountain, only that we do it. Anyway, you have a very good argument, and it’s clear you have put a lot of thought into this. I think it would be grand indeed if we could get everyone to think things through as thoroughly as you and I and the people on this website have, and be willing to hear all sides of the story. As someone I once knew put it: “The world needs to rediscover communication.” Cheers.

      1. Patrick Gannon Avatar
        Patrick Gannon

I’m not disagreeing with Neale’s motivation (although it seems to me that selling books is pretty high on the list), and I don’t think he “made the whole thing up.” I think he experienced a stream of consciousness that largely came out of his own individuation of consciousness as his writings strongly reflect his early Christian beliefs. I’m guessing he was influenced by some of the same books I was influenced by – such as Heinlein’s “Stranger in a Strange Land.”

In CWG it’s clear that he believed/believes in Moses and Jesus’ miracles and other components of the bible. There is no evidence whatsoever for an Exodus as described in the bible, and hence no evidence that there was a Moses. The early books speak of camels before they were domesticated and introduced to the region, so we know it was written long after the events it claims to document. It’s all mythology, mostly based on previous religions and cultural beliefs.

What I take issue with is his method – keeping the “idea” of personal gods alive. Yeah, he makes his “God” much nicer than “Bible God” but we’ve been fighting for thousands of years over gods, and it seems to me that all he’s done is introduce another one into the mix – one that will further divide and separate us, no matter how nice he is, rather than pull us together. Religionists are not going to buy into his version of god and will warn their sheeple that it’s the work of the devil. Yes, it will help a few who are ready to throw off their fears and beliefs, as it did, me – but it was much more helpful to learn that Bible God doesn’t exist other than as a mythological figures such as Zeus and Apollo, and that there is no literal Hell – that it was made up by intentional mistranslation and influenced by fiction such as “Dante’s Inferno.” It’s one more version of “god” to disagree about.

“God” is an idea, not a real thing. To me it makes much more sense to research real things – such as consciousness and life, and in understanding those things, come to a better understanding of ourselves.

I completely agree that communication is the key. Many people are very uncomfortable discussing the subject, but nothing ever changes without a conversation.

All religions, all religious beliefs or concepts, all spiritual ideals, all theologies old and new prove to be irrelevant when a human being understands and applies the reality of love to the fullest and deepest possible extent. Love is life, it is energy, it is All That Is, it is what holds All Life as One. Everything else is just a mental construct (such as morality) meant for humanity to figure out how to get along with the least possible damage when love is unknown or not applied.
The idea that “God is love” for example appeals to a humanity that does not know how to experience and practice true love, unconditional love, and needs to think of a fatherly deity that loves it as it should love itself. A humanity that loves itself without conditions would not require such an idea.
The idea of a “forgiving God” appeals to a humanity that does not know how to forgive itself. The idea of a divine redeemer appeals to a humanity that does not know how to let go of guilt.

Religion and theology are the crutches a humanity that does not know how to heal itself believes it needs, while these crutches ultimately keep it in a state of powerlessness, irresponsibility and spiritual infantilism.

The CwG cosmology extends the idea of only Love or fear concepts to one.

      Love.

Fear is also Love. It can also be distorted Love given what we are trying to achieve. But only Love really exist.

The most important lesson/knowing/understanding to help us evolve quickly is right in front of us. How to best respond to what we call, interpret as negativity & unwelcome challenge in life.

The best response to all events & conditions is to greet each instance of hurt with Love, Compassion & Appreciation.
