A Voice in the Wilderness
ARE WE READY TO PUT A NAME
TO THE CAUSE OF OUR DYSFUNCTION?

Editor’s Note: For the next several months this space will be used to explore, one-by-one, the messages, metaphysical principles, and spiritual meaning of the material found in the nearly 3,000 pages of the Conversations with God dialogues. This series of observations and interpretations is offered with my continuing disclaimer: I could be wrong about all of this.

CWG Explored/Installment #11: The next step for humanity.

This is going to be the longest entry in this series, so if you do not have the time, or if you cannot muster the patience, to read through this very long entry, you may want to close down this page right here. I’m not going to cut short what I have come to say.

I have come to say that humanity has gone just about as far as it can go down the particular road on which it has so long been embarked, and on which it continues to blindly stumble.

Between all the latest saber-rattling of North Korea, China, Russia, and the United States, the activities of terrorists, the plight of millions of refugees, the social unrest across the globe, the political upheaval, the financial disparity, plus the natural disasters and environmental degradation visiting Mother Earth, our present lifestyle is not, in the long term, politically or economically desirable, nor ecologically sustainable.

We have to make some changes in the way we are creating our daily experience on this planet, or we may very soon simply do ourselves in.

The issue is not whether we have to make changes, but what those changes might most beneficially be.

Clearly, it would be beneficial for us to alter our behaviors. Yet that has been true for hundreds (actually, thousands) of years. Why haven’t we done so? And what could cause us to do so?

These are the questions now facing our species. Conversations with God offers us some answers, and it strikes me that it could be useful for us to at least explore them to see if even a few of them might be helpful in our present situation. (I, of course, think they would all be helpful, but then again, I’m biased…)

Some of the ideas emerging from the CWG cosmology have been included in the book titled The Storm Before the Calm, found elsewhere on this website. The entire text is there, and I believe it is well worth reading — as I said, if only for its value of placing some proposals before us that we might debate and consider…and maybe even (who knows?) embrace and act on.

But now, here, let me place before the house some things I have said many, many times in previous statements, speeches, workshops, books, magazine articles, TV interviews, and other articulations. I ask you to forgive the repetition here if you have heard all this from me before. There is a chance that someone here is encountering it for the first time. And if it is repetitious for you, I invite you to let yourself nevertheless consider it again, to see if you still agree or disagree with the point of view I offer, based on the messages of my dialogue with Deity. And there is this: If you agree with what you find here, and you’d like others to be able to consider it, you can copy and paste, from this point downward, the commentary I am offering.

============================================================================================================================

Let us begin by noticing something that is obvious to all of us, but that we do not seem to be able to do anything about: We do not have peace in our world.

Indeed, there has not been a single day for thousands of years when there has not been agitation, violence, and killing somewhere on this planet.

Is this because we are, by nature, a violent species? No. There are some who say so, but it is not true. Our basic nature is not violent. Our basic nature is peaceful and loving. We do not want war. We do not want violence. We do not want conflict and angry opposition and endless struggling.

Then why do we have it?

We have it because not one of the systems we have put into place to make life better on this planet is working.

Wait. It’s worse.

Not only have the systems we have put into place failed to produce the outcomes for which they were designed—they have actually produced exactly the opposite.

Our political systems – put into place to create safety and security for the world’s people – have produced exactly the opposite: continual disagreement and disarray.

Our economic systems — put into place to create opportunity and sufficiency for all — have produced exactly the opposite: increasing poverty and massive economic inequality, with 8 of the world’s richest people holding more wealth than 3.5 billion…that’s half the planet’s population…combined.

Our ecological systems — put into place to create a sustainable lifestyle — have been so abused that they are now generating exactly the opposite: environmental disasters right and left.

Our educational systems — put into place to create a lifting of the knowledge base of the planet’s population higher and higher — have produced exactly the opposite: a drop in global awareness and sensitivity that each year sinks our intellectual common denominator lower and lower. We can’t even remember telephone numbers anymore.

Our health care systems — put into place to create a good and long life for an increasingly higher percentage of people – have produced exactly the opposite, doing little to eliminate inequality of access to modern medicines and health care services, and providing the highest-level medical services each year to a lower and lower percentage of the world’s population.

Our social systems — put into place to create cooperative community and harmony among a divergent population – have produced exactly the opposite: discordance, disparity, prejudice, and despair . . . and, far too often, rampant injustice.

And, most sadly dysfunctional of all, our spiritual systems — put into place to create a greater closeness to God, and so, to each other — have produced exactly the opposite: bitter righteousness, shocking intolerance, widespread anger, deep-seated hatred, and self-justified violence.

If the betterment of human life upon the Earth were a laboratory experiment, it would have long ago been considered an abject failure.

Indeed, an appalling disaster.

Not everyone agrees. There are those who believe that humanity is evolving to higher and higher levels of sophistication and achievement, producing a better and better quality of life for the members of our species.

It is possible that these would not, however, be among the 842 million people who do not have enough to eat. (That’s one of every eight in the world.) It is certain that they would not be the parents of the over 650 children who die every hour of starvation.

They would presumably not be among the 20.9 million women and children who are bought and sold into commercial sexual servitude every year.

They would also, one imagines, not be among the over 3 billion people who live on less than $2.50 a day, or the billions who have no access to health care. (Some 19,000 children die each day from preventable health issues, such as malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia.)

They would probably also not be among the 1.7 billion people who lack clean water, or the 2.6 billion without basic sanitation, or the 1.6 billion people—a quarter of humanity—who live without electricity.

That’s right. In the first quarter of the 21st Century, 2.6 billion people live without toilets, and 1.6 billion without electricity.

How is this possible?, you might ask. And that is a very good question.

It is an especially good question given that humanity imagines itself to be a “civilized” species. To the people in the above categories, the “civilization of Civilization” has not even begun.

A planet where 5% of the population owns or controls 95% of the wealth and resources—and where most of that 5% think this is perfectly okay, even as unconscionable numbers languish in lack and suffering—would not seem to be a planet on which a great deal of humanitarian advancement has been achieved.

Are any of these conditions in any way related to the continuing lack of peace on this planet?

What do you think?

Are these conditions the cause of our lack of peace? No. They are the effect of that which causes them. They are the outfall. They are the result, the product, the consequence of something much larger that is dysfunctional in our species. And the challenge facing the world today is that many of those who seek, with every good intention, to change global conditions for the better, continue to attempt to do so at the level of Effect, rather than at the level of Cause. That is, they seek and hope to change WHAT is occurring, rather than WHY it is occurring.

Or to put it another way, we are trying to solve our collective global problems at every level except the level at which those problems exist.

My own awareness is that unless and until we approach the question of why humanity’s collective behavior is utterly dysfunctional, we can only put a bandage on humanity’s wounds. We cannot and will not heal those wounds unless and until we heal what is causing them.

Yet my sad observation is that no one wants to put a “name” to the Cause. Everyone wants to talk about what we can do at the Level of Effect, but most (if not all) of the world’s Messengers of Peace are reluctant (if not loathe) to suggest or articulate what they see as the cause of our uncaring, of our lack of action, of our continuing downward spiral.

All of our contemporary Messengers want to turn our global situation around…but few seem willing to do it at the Level of Cause. Everyone wants to change the outcome of our collective dysfunction, but not the input that creates it. This limits both the individual and any combined efforts of those Messengers to attempts to alter only the second half of the Cause-and-Effect phenomenon that is creating global conditions and experiences.

Let’s be specific here, so that you may know exactly what it is I am talking about.

There is one thing that I see most human beings currently unwilling to do, even though the doing of it could bring an end to humanity’s collective suffering virtually overnight. What is fascinating about this is that humans actually have done this particular thing in every area of human endeavor save one.

We have been willing to do it in the area of science…and our willingness has produced breathtaking scientific advances. We have been willing to do it in the area of medicine…and our willingness has produced modern medical miracles. We have been willing to do it in the area of technology…and our willingness has produced dazzling life enhancements.

We have, in fact, been willing to do it in every area of human endeavor except, as I said, one. Regrettably, this is the most important area of all.

Our beliefs.

And just what is it that we have abjectly and stultifyingly refused to do in the area of human beliefs, even though we have been willing to do it in every other area of human life?

Question the prior assumption.

The first thing we do when we reach a scientific conclusion is to question it, put it to the test, assess it based on results.

The first thing we do when we create a medical miracle is to question it, put it to the test, assess it based on results.

The first thing we do when we produce a technological marvel is to question it, put it to the test, assess it based on results.

But the last thing we do when we embrace a core belief is to question it, put it to the test, assess it based on results. The last thing we want to do is question the prior assumption.

We’ve decided that we’re going to hang onto our core beliefs if it kills us. And it does. By the thousands. Every day.

So here is where the problem lies. And I’m not sure that even a coalition of global Messengers would be effective in helping to bring about world peace, because I have not seen that our teachers, authors, and messengers are willing to speak to the matter of Cause.

So the question is: What would be the coalition’s Core Message? I mean, other than that we all want PEACE (of course), and need to all work toward it (of course).

What is the main thrust of what the world’s New Thought teachers and authors jointly believe is the CAUSE of our current lack of peace on this planet? Or, in fact, IS there a joint understanding among them about this?

Do they hold a unified understanding of the reason behind humanity’s dysfunction?

If the observation is that they do not, is it sufficient for everyone to get together to work toward altering the outcome of humanity’s dysfunction without ever touching on, or even mentioning, its cause?

Let me now articulate what I am clear is the major, the primary, the predominant and principal cause of humanity’s present and long-standing dysfunction.

The most impacting of our vast collection of Don’t-Dare-Change-or-Challenge Beliefs is our belief in Separation.

It begins, as I have observed it, with our belief in Separation Theology.

A Separation Theology is a theology that says “I am ‘over here’ and God is ‘over there’, and never the ‘twain shall meet—until I die and God decides whether I have been good enough to go to Heaven or to deserve paradise, and to be back with God ‘over there’.”

The challenge here is that the highest percentage of the world’s people believe in a Higher Power. They may call it by different names, they may conceive of it in different ways, but they agree in largest number on one main postulate: This Higher Power is separate from Us.

The problem with a Separation Theology is that it produces a Separation Cosmology. That is, a cosmological way of looking at all of Life which holds that everything is separate from everything else. And a Separation Cosmology produces a Separation Psychology. That is, a personal thought about the human psyche that says everyone is alone, separate from everything and everyone else. And a Separation Psychology produces a Separation Sociology. That is, a way of creating entire societies that separates every person from every other person by declaring their individual interests to be separate. And a Separation Sociology produces a Separation Pathology. That is, pathological behaviors of self-destruction, engaged in individually and collectively and evidenced everywhere on our planet throughout human history.

What I am observing on our planet more and more these days is the atomization of society — which is precisely the effect I have described above.

Now the questions become: Is this view as to Condition and Cause shared by others? Need it be?

If we wish to approach, and seek to solve, the problems in our world at the level of Cause, the answer to the second question is yes. If we simply seek to approach and solve the problems at the level of Effect, that answer is no.

Humanity has for generations created coalition after coalition, group after group, organization after organization, effort after effort, seeking to solve the problem of the suffering of humanity that has resulted from our species’ dysfunction.

I am sorry to report that the efforts of such groups and NGOs have in large measure failed. And for good reason. Most humans (and the coalitions we have formed) have, as previously noted, insisted on seeking to solve the world’s problems at every level except the level at which the problems exist.

We first try to solve our problems as if they were political problems, because we are accustomed to using political pressure on this planet to get people to do what they seem unwilling to do without pressure.

We hold discussions, we write laws, we pass legislation and adopt resolutions in every local, national, regional, and global language and assembly we can think of to try to solve the problem with words—but it does not work. Whatever short-term solutions we may come up with evaporate very quickly, and the problems re-emerge. They will not go away.

So we say, “Okay, these must not be political problems, because they aren’t being solved with political means. We see now that they are economic problems.” And because we are accustomed to using economic power on this planet to get people to do what they don’t seem to want to do without pressure, we then try to solve the problems as if they were economic problems.

We throw money at them, or withhold money from them (as in the form of sanctions), seeking to solve the problems with cash. But it does not work. Whatever short-term solutions we may create evaporate very quickly, and the problems re-emerge. They will not go away.

And so we say, “Okay, these must not be economic problems, because they aren’t being solved by economic means. We see now that they are military problems.” And because we are accustomed to using military might on this planet to get people to do what they don’t seem to want to do unless pressured, we then try to solve the problems as if they were military problems.

We throw bullets at them and drop bombs on them, seeking to solve the problems with weapons. But it does not work. Whatever short-term solutions we may produce evaporate very quickly, and the problems re-emerge. They will not go away.

And so, having run out of solutions, we declare: “These are not easy problems. No one expected that they could be fixed overnight. This is going to be a long, hard slog. Many lives may be lost in trying to solve these problems. But we are not going to give up. We are going to solve these problems if it kills us.” And we don’t even see the irony in our own statements.

After a while, however, even primitive beings of very little consciousness become tired of the killing and the dying of their own sons and daughters in battle, and of their women and children and elderly caught in the line of fire. And so, after enough killing has been done with no solution in sight, we say it is time to call a truce and to hold peace talks. And the cycle begins anew…

We are back to the bargaining table, and back to politicking as a solution. And peace talks often include discussion of reparations and economic recovery. And so, we are back to money as a solution. And when these solutions fail to work in the long run, we are back to bombs again.

And on and on and on it goes, and on and on and on it has gone throughout human history. This is not a new cycle. This has been happening for millennia. Only the names of the participants have changed, not the process itself.

Only primitive cultures and primitive beings do this. I know that you have heard many times the definition of insanity. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting to get a different result.

We can’t seem to change our ways because we refuse to even look at whether the solution might be to change our beliefs. We continue to seek to create, promote, and generate peace at the Level of Effect — postponing indefinitely any serious look at, much less work on, the Level of Cause.

The great tragedy and the great sadness of humanity is that we have been willing to settle for postponements in place of solutions.

Of course, only primitive cultures and primitive beings do that. Highly evolved beings would never, ever settle for a ten-thousand-year postponement in solving their biggest problems. Here on this planet we’ve never really faced the largest challenge of humanity head on.

Why? Why are we acting this way? Why are we behaving like children? Because we are children. Ours is a very young species.

A lot of people like to think of humans as highly evolved. In fact, humanity has just emerged from its infancy on this planet. In their book New World New Mind, Robert Ornstein and Paul Ehrlich placed this in perspective in one mind-boggling paragraph:

“Suppose Earth’s history were charted on a single year’s calendar, with midnight January 1 representing the origin of the Earth and midnight December 31 the present. Then each day of Earth’s ‘year’ would represent 12 million years of actual history. On that scale, the first form of life, a simple bacterium, would arise sometime in February. More complex life-forms, however, come much later; the first fishes appear around November 20. The dinosaurs arrive around December 10 and disappear on Christmas Day. The first of our ancestors recognizable as human would not show up until the afternoon of December 31. Homo sapiens—our species—would emerge at around 11:45 pm…and all that has happened in recorded history would occur in the final minute of the year.”

We see, then, the reason for our immature behavior. I repeat for clarity and emphasis: we refuse to face the largest challenge of humanity head on. We pretend we don’t even know what it is. And so we do our endless dance all around it. And we continue, century after century, to try to solve the world’s problems at every level except the level at which the problems exist.

The problem facing humanity is not a political problem, it is not an economic problem, and it is certainly not a military problem. The problem facing humanity is a spiritual problem, and it can only be solved by spiritual means.

The problem is rooted in our most fundamental and sacred beliefs about life, about each other, and about the thing we call God. And because some of those beliefs are based on a never-questioned assumption—the assumption that we are separate from and other than each other, and separate from and other than God—humanity’s spiritual problem could be bigger than most people think.

There is a reason that humans abjectly refuse to question the Assumption of Separation that rules so much of their lives. They are afraid. They are afraid that if they embrace the notion of the Oneness of everyone and everything, they will “disappear” as a single entity; they will no longer retain their personal identity, and will lose everything that makes them individuals.

But oneness does not mean sameness, unity does not equal uniformity, and lack of separation does not require lack of individuation—even as the fingers of a hand are neither separate from, nor other than, the body.

Yet the refusal of humans to question the Assumption of Separation means we could be all wrong about the Primal Force, the Singular Energy, and the Essential Essence that many people call God. And let’s be clear. It’s not a small thing to be wrong about God. And if nearly everyone on the planet is wrong about God, it’s really not a small thing.

If nearly everyone on the planet has mistaken notions about God, then nearly everything that everyone on the planet is doing will not work the way it was intended. Which is exactly the point I made earlier. This is because the basis of so much of what humans are doing in the area of politics, economics, and other critical areas of our collective endeavors has as its foundation many of humanity’s beliefs about God.

Think not?

Think again.

Nearly all of civilization’s modern laws emerged from the early rules and laws of some faith tradition.

Nearly all of humanity’s moral codes derive from the mandates of a religion.

Nearly every political movement and economic theory is based on ideas of justice, right-and-wrong, and basic fairness first espoused by spiritual figures.

Even human beings who don’t believe in God are impacted and guided by many of the fundamental principles placed into the Cultural Story, and thus our society, in the past by those who did — and in our present day by those who do.

And a striking number of the personal decisions made by billions of individuals across the globe are made within the context of what they believe to be the purpose of life, what they believe happens when this life is over, what they believe about God, and about what God wants.

So it’s not a small thing to be wrong about God.

Our opportunity on the Earth today is for those who Self-Select to become models of a new kind of spirituality by living into, and demonstrating daily, a new idea about what it means to be human, about who we are and how it is with us. And most important, how it can be.

Conversations with God-Book 4: Awaken the Species offers this observation: “This moment, this period right now in human history, is the perfect time for humanity’s advancement as a species. And the next step in this process is for each of us to self-select (that is, to choose ourselves) to be among those who commit to moving forward our own individual and personal evolution by embracing and demonstrating behaviors that serve to awaken the species to who and what human beings really are (Individuations of Divinity), and how that may be made manifest in our experience.”

I believe that many humans will self-select to do this, and so I remain optimistic about our collaborative experience.

I am clear that if we all declare, at long last and with a single voice, the truth of our being: that we are all One; one with each other and one with our Creator, there is so much more that we can create for ourselves, as individuals and as a species.

I am also clear that only when our collective Separation Cosmology is replaced by a Unity Cosmology will our self-destructive pathology be healed.

We must come to understand that all of life is One; that, as Conversations with God – Book 1 announced: “All things are One Thing. There is only One Thing, and all things are part of the One Thing there is.”

In terms of the new beliefs that would create a whole new reality and experience of life on Earth, I see this as the jumping off point. It is the beginning of the end of how things are now. It is the start of a new creation, of a new tomorrow. It can be the life-altering centerpoint of humanity’s New Cultural Story.

If we all want to be effective in working for world peace, I think it is critical for us to agree on the essential message we choose to jointly send to the world.

Will it be THAT all humans everywhere are urged to work toward world peace, or HOW we are invited to work toward world peace? Will it be about the need to change our behaviors, or will it be about HOW to change our behaviors?

Will we dare to say that beliefs create behaviors, and that until beliefs change, behaviors will not?

Will we dare to suggest or explore which beliefs held by humanity are producing humanity’s dysfunctional behaviors?

And will we dare to propose a New Cultural Story that could bring peace at last to our world?

Those are the questions now facing those who Self-Select to assist in the global modeling of a new way to be human that can awaken the species.

Whether or not a person believes in this thing called “God,” can we find a way to believe in the Oneness of Life? Can we agree that we are all part of the same expression, simply in differing form? And can we agree that as part of that singular expression, we might do well to abandon some of our individual objectives in favor of singular outcomes? Outcomes that shower goodness not on the smallest number, but on the largest?

Is this too much to ask of our species?

You decide.

By your own behaviors, you decide. And model your decision for the rest of us.

In the end, that is the message of Conversations with God. Whether you hold the notion that a Deity exists and is real, or not — in the end, that is the message of Conversations with God.

The CWG dialogue even says, in direct terms, that it is not necessary to “believe in God” to change yourself and change your world. It is only necessary to change your beliefs about life, and about who you are in relationship to everything and everyone else in it.

Are you ready to do that? Let that be our question for the day.

“Ours is a very young species.”

We have only recently allowed ourselves to debate ideas without deadly consequences. We know that Socrates had to drink the hemlock, but as recently as 1600 the Italian philosopher Bruno was burnt alive by the inquisition for daring to suggest unity, that all reality is one in substance, one in cause and origin, that God and this reality are one, that the object of philosophy, therefore, is to perceive unity in diversity, and to find the synthesis in which opposites and contradictions meet and merge.

That’s no that long ago…and we might see this kind of fear of new ideas again, if religious fundamentalists have their way.

There is no doubt that the diverse forms of authorities that have ruled over us through the centuries have always known and understood the power of beliefs and ideas…or they would have never tried to control and suppress them.

@Mewabe — My friend, you have quoted me as saying: “Our basic nature is not violent. Our basic nature is peaceful and loving. We do not want war. We do not want violence.” Then you have offered: “This is a very optimistic view, but I am not certain that it is accurate, unfortunately. Each new generation of young men in particular seems to be driven to engage in dominance contests..and gladly and happily enlists to murder and be murdered under the guise of patriotism. We are in many ways very similar to our animal cousins, and worse in some other ways, taking competition a bit too far.”

I postulate that this is not because our basic NATURE is violence, but because what we are TAUGHT is violence. When we change what we TEACH our children from the time they are very young (and teaching occurs in many forms…not many people actively instruct their children to be violent. Rather, they allow their children to watch violent television programs and play violent video games and watch violent movies and go outside with toy guns), we will change their behavior, because we have changed their beliefs.

Currently, as you note, the whole culture glorifies violence. But not because it is naturally violent. Rather, because it has been taught that violence is the only or best way to settle disagreement or to get what one wants, or feels one needs. And humans have continued to teach their young this “lesson” because of what humans BELIEVE. They actually believe in a violent GOD. Change this belief in the Nature of Divinity and you will change what humans teach each other is the Nature of Humanity.

You have added: “I would like to believe that human nature is non violent. This view fits nicely with the highest spiritual ideals…but the truth might be that humanity hasn’t evolved enough to grow out of this animalistic violence. We are still violent, we still love and glorify bitter struggles and mass murder (war).” I want to offer that this is not because we haven’t evolved enough. If we hadn’t evolved enough, we would not turn our heads away in horror when we see rampant violence in real life (as opposed to on television and in movies and video games). I believe that we may not HAVE BEEN evolved enough in our past, but that in this day and age we simply don’t recognize the problem that our emerging, maturing species is facing: our old belief in an angry, judgmental, punishing and violent deity.

Now, one might say that this is a REFLECTION of our not having evolved enough, but I want to suggest that, while we are still a very young species (which fact supports your notion that we haven’t yet evolved enough to stop glorifying violence), we are at the cusp, at the front edge, of our process of growing and maturing…and that, just as any child can grow into new behaviors when she finds it possible to embrace new and larger, more sophisticated and complex understandings, so, too, is our species as a whole now mature enough to grasp and apply new thoughts and new ideas and new beliefs about the nature of life, the nature of God, and the nature of themselves.

We CAN now write a New Cultural Story that returns us to our Natural State: we were not BORN with violent tendencies…and that is the point. It is not our natural state of being. That is the point. We were TAUGHT violence, and what we have been taught has torn us away from, pulled us out of, our natural state of being. Yet that which has been taught can be “untaught.”

And I think we are now evolved enough to receive that teaching, and to apply it. I think that’s what I’m trying to say here. I’m saying that we may not always have been evolved enough, but that now we are…we have grown sufficiently as a species to be able to now recognize, and choose, our Natural State as the State of Being in which we wish to remain…and to recognize that what we TEACH each other is what has, in the past, pulled us out of that Natural State — and so we can and will choose not to teach that to each other any longer.

Before I began reading this epistle today, I had just finished pulling a report off the computer. It is a list of American wars. I was aghast when I found that we (America) have been involved in 79 wars since 1700. Now juxtapose that fact with the fact that babies and small children don’t hate ANYONE. They LOVE EVERYONE. They have to be TAUGHT to hate! Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” even has a song in it containing the lyrics “You have to be taught to hate”, and on and on it goes.
It’s known as “The Socialization Process”. If what you (and I and many others seek) is to come about, we MUST look at the very early “socializing” we give our children. As a teacher and parent, I can say this from direct experience.

“…the largest percentage of the world’s people believe in, and teach of, a Deity that is judgmental, punishing, and violent? Therein lies the problem as I see it, Marko. The largest number of the world’s people (by far) believe in a violent God, and as long as they teach this, they will emulate it.”

I apologize for quoting a passage out of another one of your responses (to Marko) but I think that it summarizes your thoughts about this topic really well.

If you look at Native Americans cultures (not the Aztecs or Mayas but most others), you will find that they did not believe in a violent, judgmental, punishing God, or in a devil or hell, before contact with Euro-americans. And contrary to popular beliefs, they were not primitive but some were quite sophisticated in their cultures and beliefs.

However most of the young men among them enjoyed war, usually not to conquer and dominate as did Europeans, and not really to kill, but as a form of sport and to prove one’s courage (the highest display of courage was to touch the enemy with a stick or quirt without hurting him, and to steal horses without being noticed). Of course the boys were taught this behavior from an early age…so just as the Tibetans, who were also very warlike yet became peaceful after adopting Buddhism, they could have been taught to live in peace.

Yet it seems that young men in particular are driven to seek adventure and danger…to live on the edge. I have heard from some veterans that they miss the excitement of the battlefield, the intensity of feeling so alive when death stars them in the face at every moment (that is how polarity works as we all know).

The war makers, who profit from conflicts, exploit these natural tendencies in young them, and rather than providing them with the adventure they see, send them to kill and be killed for no valid reason.

Perhaps the young should skydive and climb mountain instead of seeking excitement in war. But there is no doubt that many young men, and some women, love danger.

I truly hope that a different way of raising children and education can change things for humanity…in particular, we should probably do away with the notion that men have to prove that they are men by displaying certain traits of character, most of which have to do with an unhealthy amount of stoicism and suppression of feelings and sensitivity (most women are not asked to prove that they have ovaries, that they are “real women”…why are men asked to prove their gender, most often by using or condoning some form of violence?…It seems absurd to me, but I do think that it is also part of the problem).

You have said….”If you look at Native Americans cultures (not the Aztecs or Mayas but most others), you will find that they did not believe in a violent, judgmental, punishing God, or in a devil or hell, before contact with Euro-americans. And contrary to popular beliefs, they were not primitive but some were quite sophisticated in their cultures and beliefs. However most of the young men among them enjoyed war, usually not to conquer and dominate as did Europeans and others, but as a form of “sport” and to prove one’s courage…”

The question is, WHY did the young men feel the desire or the need to “prove one’s courage?” And, for that matter, how does any of that early behavior relate to the question or creation of our Separation Theology?

I believe that all of this may very well have been a result of our first experiences of what we conceived of as “another”—and of our “separation” from that other.

That early story of separation had its origin in the first attempts of our species to understand the life we were experiencing.

What we now call “self-consciousness” arose when we began to see or know ourselves individually. Perhaps it was seeing our reflection in a caveside pool that sparked this perception. We raised a hand to scratch our head and saw the “man in the pool” doing the same thing…and soon we began to conceive of “The Self.”

We had already noticed that “The Self” was “different” from others. And in our primitive minds, we confused “different than” with “separate from”—ignoring the evidence of our own hands, with fingers that were “different than,” but not “separate from,” each other, all belonging to and connected to the same body.

The next step in producing the perception of separation came, perhaps, as we sat around the campfire of our clan and found ourselves startled by a sudden flash of lightning in the night sky, followed by a booming clap of thunder.

We looked anxiously around the campfire and asked, with whatever facial and verbal expressions we’d developed, “Did you do that?” When everyone in the clan shook their head in a panicked “No!,” we came to a startling awareness: There is something Other Than Us.

This Something Other also seemed, as subsequent events appeared to prove, far more powerful than us. It could cause wind and rain and violent storms; heat and dry spells that lasted, it seemed, forever; a frightening shaking and even an opening of the very ground on which we walked. It could even start fires in the woods all by Itself.

It became clear to us that we needed to find a way to control this Something Other, or our lives would forever be at Its mercy. Yet we could not conceive of or imagine a way that we could do this. We tried everything. We knew we had to find a way to appease the gods.

We didn’t call the elements of life “gods,” of course. That word came along at a much later time. But we did think of this Something Other as an aspect of our existence that was both powerful and uncontrollable.

We experienced some members of our own clan in exactly the same way, for this was the Time of Brute Strength, when the biggest and the strongest and most savage among us ran rampant through the collective life of the clan, and always got their way. We had learned, as a species, that physical strength was needed for survival, and so the strongest were accorded the highest place in the clan. These were, in nearly all cases, the gender we now call “males,” whose bodies simply seemed more suited than the bodies of females for the heavier, more strength-requiring tasks (including most of the hunting and gathering). Efforts were continually made to appease all males—and particularly the strongest. They were brought offerings of every kind, from nubile virgins to plentiful food to beautiful things from the richness of the earth.

The young male offspring in the clan quickly learned from observation that physical strength was a characteristic to be desired. They did everything they could to develop it—and to prove that they had it, even as they saw their elder males continually proving that they had it, even fighting among themselves to demonstrate who had the most of it.

Once, when the most brutish among them became more sullen and angry than usual because of an unending drought and the sacrifices it imposed on them and the whole clan, we joined others in our small group to do whatever we could think of to calm them, lest they take out their anger on us—which they had done before.

We threw a campside “party” for them, sang and danced for them. Someone in the group tore a dying branch from a nearby tree and shook it as part of his dance, its dry leaves producing a rhythmic sound matching his gyrations as he twirled around the fire.

As it happens, at that exact moment the skies opened up, and a sudden hard rain drenched the site. Everyone was shocked! And, given the limited intellectual development of the clan at that time, the Dance With The Branch was credited with having produced the water from the sky.

A way had been found to please and appease Something Other! A way had been found to get that Something Other to do what we had been hoping for! All of us were so excited! The “rain man” was elevated to a position of high status. Ritual, and a class within the clan of Those Who Performed It, was created.

The clan believed that the Dance of the Branch by the Rain Man created rain, and so it did in the future more often than not. And this was not by coincidence. Metaphysics being was it is, the formula worked! For life’s metaphysical process—whether modern or ancient—produces in physicality whatever it is fervently believed by the collective that it will produce.

In that first instance, it was no doubt the ongoing, fervent hope, the deeply earnest wish, of the clan that the drought would end which generated the result. But the coincidence of the rain falling at the exact moment the noisy dance was performed could not be ignored.

The narrative above is, of course, all of my imagining. It was an insight—call it an inspiration, if you choose—that I received at the time of my Conversations with God. The entire story could be inaccurate…but I believe that either this, or something very similar to this, is what occurred in the early life of human beings, and is what produced our sense of separation, our sense of Something Other, and our sense that there might be, after all, a way of controlling—or at least influencing—that Something Other.

Earliest humans were dealing with the alchemy of the universe without knowing it. Thus was born what later became known as Religion.

As humanity became more sophisticated in its understandings, the species sought a more sophisticated way of seeking to “appease the gods”…and, much later, the single Higher Power that humans ultimately decided must surely exist.

          We were right about that.

There is a Higher Power, which humans have referred to by various names throughout history, and to this very day. A person named Colin provided me a few years ago with what he called a “non-exhaustive list” of gods that various human societies have believed in at one time or another. That list includes — are you ready? — : Adonai, ægir, Akshar, Alfar, Allah, Amaterasu, An, Angus, Anshar, Anu, Anubis, Aphrodite, Apollo, Apsu, Ares, Artemis, Ashur, Aten, Atum, Atehna, Ataegina, Attis, Azura Mazda, Bacchus, Balder, Bast, Bes, Belenos, Benzaiten, Beyla, Bil, Bishamonten, Bragi, Brama, Brigid, Byggvir, Ceres, Cupid, Cybele, Dagda, Dagr, Daikoku, Damkina. Dana, Demeter, Deus, Dionysus, Disir, Diana, Divinity, Divine Mother, Ea, Ebisu, Eir, El-Gabal, Ekankar, Elohim, Elves, Endovelicus, Enki, Enlil, Eos, Eostre, Epona, Ereshkigal, Eris, Forseti, Freya, Freyr, Frigga, Fukurokuju, Gaia, Ganesh, Geb, God, Hadad, Hades, Hapi, Hari, Hathor, Heget, Heimdall, Hekate, Hel, Helios, Hephaestus, Hera, Hermes, Herne, Hestia, Hoenir, Holda, Horus, Hotei, Hretha, Idunn, Imhotep, Inanna, Inari, Indra, Inti, Invictus, Ishtar, Isis, Izanagi, Izanami, Janus, Jehovah, Jord, Juno, Jupiter, Jurojin, Khepry, Khnum, Kingu, Kishar, Kon, Krishna, Lofn, Loki, Lord, Lugh, Maahes, Ma’at, Mahesh, Maia, Mama Cocha, Mama Quilla, Manco Capac, Manitou, Marduk, Mars, Mathilde, Mercury, Menhit, Minerva, Mithras, Mitra, Mon, Mont, Mummu, Nabu, Nammu, Nanna, Naunet, Nehalennia, Neith, Nephthys, Neptune, Nergal, Nerthus, Ninhursag, Ninlil, Nintu, Njord, Norns, Nott, Nunurta, Nut, Odin, Ormuzd, Osiris, Pachacamac, Pan, Parameshwar, Plutus, Poseidon, Proserpina, Ptah, Purush, Purushottam, Quetzalcoatl, Ra, Radha Soami, Ram, Rama, Ran, Runesocesius, Saga, Saxnot, Selene, Sekhmnet, Set, Shamash, Shef, Shiva, Sif, Sin, Siofn, Skadi, Snotra, Sobek, Sol, Susanoo, Syn, Tefnut, Tengu, Thor, Theos, Thoth, Thuno, Tiamat, Tir, Tlaloc, Tsukiyomi, Tyr, Ull, Uranus, Utu, Vali, Var, Varuna,Venus, Vesta, Vidar, Vishnu, Vor, Vulcan, Weyland, Woden, Yahweh, Zeus, Zaramama.

It is indisputable that humans have believed in a Higher Power for a long, long, long time. Indeed, since soon after the dawn of our present civilization. Yet our idea about this Higher Power—that it is “Something Other” than and “Separate From” what we are—is what has been inaccurate.

As I’ve noted, this idea is very likely a carryover from the earliest story we told ourselves about The Power Greater Than Us. That first idea could very well be what planted the seeds of our Separation Theology. And so we come to that point in my narrative above.

Yes Neale, this is an interesting way of looking at the process of individual consciousness development. It is kind of Darwinian…and I am not certain that it is accurate, although I do agree that most people, to this day, confuse individuation with separation, and separation with conflict.

“We experienced some members of our own clan in exactly the same way, for this was the Time of Brute Strength, when the biggest and the strongest and most savage among us ran rampant through the collective life of the clan, and always got their way.”

This looks like a National Geographic version of early humanoid life…Is it real? Not necessarily.

Again, what of the Native American example? These people were in the “stone age” according to our ways of measuring cultural progress. According to our scientific beliefs, they should have been savage brutes. Yet, if you look at the way some (they had different cultures) of their societies were organized, their values were more spiritually developed than our own even today. They shared their possessions…the strong took care of the weak…leaders were chosen and highly respected for their generosity, and were often the poorest among them, as they gave everything they had to the needy. They were not authoritarian, but counselors, and ruled by consensus. Theirs represented the ideal Aristotelian society: a group of leaders observed from early childhood and chosen for their rare qualities, who placed the welfare of the people before their own, ruled by consensus without actual authority but through eloquent persuasion.

Sociologists will say that these cooperative efforts among Native Americans were born of a need for survival…a prejudiced viewpoint which totally disregards and denies the spiritual root of cooperation, a root which among these Indigenous people was an understanding of the oneness of the universe, of all of creation. Sociologists however are ideologically biased, they need to defend our cutthroat social systems, and consequently define cooperation as being the requirement of primitive societies.

Quote from Black Elk again, an Oglala Lakota, who made this comment after visiting Europe late in the 19th century with Buffalo Bill: “I could see that the white man did not care for each other the way our people did…They would take everything from each other if they could…Some had more of everything than they could use, while crowds of people had nothing at all…This could not be better than the old ways of my people.”

Surely these Lakota, Cheyenne, Crow, Blackfoot and many others were not primitive brutes. Yet they also enjoyed warfare, not out of hate for or fear of the “enemy”, but again for “sport”, because of something that seems to be a universal characteristic among the young, especially young men: a love of danger, of living on the edge.

There was nothing primitive about the native tribes of america. I know this can be heavily argued in many different ways. Given a study, it wouldn’t take long to figure out that the ways of the old tribes is what many of the people of earth would desire. Those who are greedy and uncaring would suffer rather than be rewarded as they are now, and the generous and caring wouldn’t be wondering why the world is the way it is.

    1. NealeDonaldWalsch Avatar
      NealeDonaldWalsch

I think you are accurate, Marko, in your idea that the solution lies in what we are TEACHING, not in Who We Are when in our Natural State of Being. The problem is that we are currently teaching our children (inadvertently, by allowing them to watch violent television, movies, video games, etc.) that violence is the way we are, and the best way to be if we need to defend or obtain something. When we stop teaching our offspring that violence is the optimal course of action to resolve differences, we will eliminate violence as an acceptable alternative in real life situations. But how can we teach our children that our Natural State of Being is non-violent when the largest percentage of the world’s people believe in, and teach of, a Deity that is judgmental, punishing, and violent? Therein lies the problem as I see it, Marko. The largest number of the world’s people (by far) believe in a violent God, and as long as they teach this, they will emulate it. It’s really quite simple. What’s good enough for God is good enough for us.

Just one question Neale. If God is so great and so amazing how come she hasn’t been able to help the millions who ask for her help on a daily basis?

    1. NealeDonaldWalsch Avatar
      NealeDonaldWalsch

Dear Mateia — Please let me assume that your question represents a sincere exploration, and is not the mere verbalization of contentious or simplistic antagonism. My sincere answer would be that God IS able to “help the millions who ask for her help on a daily basis” — but that God does not do so by swooping down at the last minute and intervening physically in the moment-to-moment experience of humans. Rather, God does so by giving humans at the outset all the tools they need to create the experience they have come to physicality to experience. It is, however, up to humans to use those tools, rather than ignore them. The vast majority of human beings (myself included) have not used the tools with which they have been naturally endowed, and so they suffer the natural consequences of actions, choices, and decisions they have unilaterally and/or jointly made.

It is neither God’s purpose nor function to direct the minute-to-minute affairs of men. If that were God’s function, we would all be nothing more than automatons — robots capable of no action or reaction other than that with which we have been programmed, and are thus constrained to adhere to.

Yet Divinity did not intend Humans to be simply highly sophisticated machines that followed the dictates of their maker. Rather, it was the Divine intention that the sentient beings of the Universe be given Free Will, allowing them to experience, individually, the situations, circumstances, and events they have created collectively, in whatever way they choose, given their current level of consciousness and awareness.

Divinity also does not intervene in, or direct, the collective creations of Humanity (or any species of sentient beings in the cosmos), but, rather, allows all sentient beings to collaboratively produce whatever conditions or outcomes they wish, based on their jointly embraced and practiced beliefs.

God’s desire is to experience Itself as the creator, and in order to do this God created sentient beings who could collectively create, with total freedom and without direction or constraint. And who could, as well, individually experience whatever they collectively created in whatever way they choose. This is the way that God helps us. And this power to create our own experience of all conditions, situations, and events makes it possible for those who are facing any challenging life circumstance (include dying) to do so with peace and even joy. Spiritual masters practice this. Spiritual students such as myself are still seeking…not to understand it, but to practice it. It is our spiritual practice.

I could, of course, be wrong about all of this. But that is my understanding, emerging from the consciousness and awareness arising out of my conversations with God. And do you know what, my friend? Right or wrong, accurate or inaccurate, I have found no better or more peaceful and joyful way to live. So “that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.”

      Love, Neale.

        1. NealeDonaldWalsch Avatar
          NealeDonaldWalsch

The tools are far too numerous to list or mention in a single response here, Mateia. There are nine dialogue books and a number of additional texts that propose answers to your first question. As to your third question, my understanding is that the tools are not given to us as instruments with which to manifest particular or specific results in our life in terms of exterior events, circumstances, situations, or outcomes. They are given to us as tools with which to assist ourselves in achieving interior experiences, or, if you will, particular states of being, in response to the events, circumstances, situations, and outcomes that are occurring in our exterior environment as a result of humanity’s collaborative creation.

It is true that often our interior energy has an effect or impact on the exterior energies that are swirling around us and that are producing physical phenomena in our environment, and that by this means we may be said to have played a role in creating outcomes in our life, but the primary purpose of the tools God has given us is to assist us in experiencing our True Selves not as a result of what is occurring outside of us, but of what is occurring inside of us.

I apologize for barging in Neale…like an obnoxious bug that won’t go away.

Your thoughts are interesting, but I partially disagree. It has been my understanding and experience that there are no separations or differences between inner and outer experiences when we are aligned with our own nature.

In other words, for me it hasn’t been a matter of changing my perception in response to outer events (even world events), but of understanding how I participated in causing these events to happen…at a personal level in my own life, and collectively in world events.

It has been my experience that my life has been a perfect reflection of my state of consciousness, like a clean mirror. Nothing, good or bad, has “happened” to me, I caused everything to happen, at first unconsciously, and then consciously.

This is why the old adage “Know thyself” is, I believe, so important…and this means getting to know what lays within our own powerful unconscious as well…which is not that difficult, as all we have to do is look in the mirror (the “exterior environment”) as well at our thoughts and feelings patterns. This is however precisely what most people would rather not do, as it is empowering, yet with creative power comes responsibility.

“They are given to us as tools with which to assist ourselves in achieving interior experiences, or, if you will, particular states of being, in response to the events, circumstances, situations, and outcomes that are occurring in our exterior environment as a result of humanity’s collaborative creation.”

I might be wrong, but your approach reminds me of the stoic school of philosophy, which empathizes changing our mindsets in response to events over which we have little or no control. Am I misunderstanding you?

          2. NealeDonaldWalsch Avatar
            NealeDonaldWalsch

Just a bit. I am not suggesting that life is made up of events “over which we have little or no control.” I am suggesting that our control over exterior events is collaborative, not unilateral. I am suggesting that Collective Consciousness produces exterior events, and Individual Awareness generates internal experience (or what we call our “reality”). I am suggesting that we, as humans, DO have some ability to “create our own reality” in the form of exterior physical events, situations, circumstances, and phenomena, but that this ability is tremendously magnified, and therefore hugely more effective, when multiplied and magnified by the collaborative process. (“Wherever two or more are gathered…”, etc.) Physical energy is very “heavy” when compared to metaphysical energy, and so can take more than a single energy projection to manipulate it in such a way that it produces a particular manifestation. My observation is that very, very few human beings have the power (define that as Level on Consciousness — or, Awareness of and Belief in Who They Are) required to affect the physical energy of the universe in a specific way. Yet when more than one of us holds a thought firmly (and especially when many of us do), we have used the Multiplier Effect, and physical creation becomes very easy. Hence, the nature of life on Earth, which is the obvious (and sad) result of humanity’s current Collective Consciousness.

          3. mewabe Avatar
            mewabe

I think I understand…(as you often mention, words are a poor way to communicate).

However, again my understanding and experience have been that whether we know it or not, whether we do it consciously or not, we always create our own reality, 24/7…even in the dream state. When we are fully conscious (“awakened”), we create a relatively positive reality…but a negative one should be understood to be a helpful mirror or feedback meant to help us become aware of and correct inner patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are off track, so to speak.

Of course in the physical dimension the delay between thought and the outer result causes most people to miss the connection.

And by creating our own reality I do not mean affecting the physical energy of the universe in a specific way, although it can occasionally be done, I mean creating the circumstances of our lives. Again most people live unconsciously…they do not understand how and why things “happen” to them, because they do not know themselves, and are consequently unaware that they are creating these personal situations…typically then they repeat the same patterns over and over, feeling ever more “victimized” by life.

The collective creation is more tricky and difficult to master, as most people are not of the same mindset, consequently such creation appears chaotic. Yet even then humanity is following a general path, the blueprint of its choice. It seems that the current choice is a kind of global death and rebirth. I do not know whether we can change this…of course it is worth trying, or at least attempting to lessen the damage and suffering.

And then again such death and rebirth might actually be a drastic shortcut to global awakening. What we see and experience, when lost in the details and intense drama of life, is not always what is actually happening, and can be the exact opposite (paradox). We occasionally need to head south in order to reach north, or go through the darkest of nights in order to greet the dawn. It is all a matter of choice…doing it the hard way or the easy way. It seems that so far humanity has chosen the hard way.

As well, they have limited their definition of “better” to mean that exterior conditions or circumstances must change, rather than that their internal experience of conditions and circumstances is changed. They believe they can blame and punish God by not believing anymore. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own creations when life isn’t going their way. Only when people realize that life is a product of their own thoughts and actions will things possibly change for the better. I know this because I was able to change my life by changing the way I thought about it. Any person who has changed their lives for better, or worse, first had to change their way of thinking.

Her mind didn’t tell her to breath when she was thirteen and she passed away. Not one time do I recall her ever being unhappy. She made noises when hungry or uncomfortable and she got what she needed. I dated a girl who’s parents were deaf. Her twin brothers were deaf too. Not a person in that family was unhappy!!

Are you trying to tell me that because you can’t accept the possibility of having those problems, that you can’t believe anyone WITH those problems could’t be happy!!? Really!!!

Suit yourself, Mateia. CWG offered us the awareness that God is not some super being in the sky who grants the wishes of some, and fails to grant the wishes of others, and won’t even tell us on what basis those decisions are made. God is a being who gives us all, equally, the gifts and the tools with which to produce and create our expression of ourselves and of life in a way that allows us to experience our True Identity as Individuations of Divinity.

But let me explain how God’s tools work. If you BELIEVE without a doubt that God will “act directly in the physical world,” then you may, in fact, produce a physical world outcome or event that you desire. But it is as I have said in a reply to Wewabe below…

In that reply I offered that our control over exterior events is collaborative, not unilateral. I am suggesting that Collective Consciousness produces exterior events, and Individual Awareness generates internal experience (or what we call our “reality”). I am suggesting that we, as humans, DO have some ability to “create our own reality”(with what you would call the “help of God) in the form of exterior physical events, situations, circumstances, and phenomena, but that this ability is tremendously magnified, and therefore hugely more effective, when multiplied and magnified by the collaborative process. (“Wherever two or more are gathered…”, etc.)

Physical energy is very “heavy” when compared to metaphysical energy, and so can take more than a single energy projection to manipulate it in such a way that it produces a particular manifestation.

I know I am not playing by the rules here, quoting Neale from a “God’s new news” entry. But it is relevant to your suggestions Neale about the teaching of children, in your own response to me.

“Our first experience in Life is separation from our mother, the Source of our Life. This creates the context for our entire reality, which we experience as one of separation from the Source of All Life.”

I agree with you Neale, and had that same thought many years ago…that this initial separation forms the blueprint for all other perceptions and beliefs in separation (if this is what you mean).

Yet it is worth noting that among many so-called primitive cultures, and I will use the Native American example here, mothers took great care in always being in body contact with the newborn, up to at least about 3 years old. This evidently lessened the impact and trauma of separation, and made the infant feel very safe. Perhaps this is why many of these cultures developed spiritual beliefs that expressed a sense of oneness with all of the creation (“All things are our relatives; what we do to everything, we do to ourselves. All is really one.”….”The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.”
    Black Elk, Oglala Lakota)

In western societies however, which are unusually neurotic, many infants are not in such permanent contact with the mother, as the prevalent, sick (and convenient) belief is that such contact would “spoil” the child. This lack of early, reassuring and permanent contact with the mother causes neurosis in the child, as well as engenders a tendencies to later on believe more readily in separation, as our beliefs match our perceptions, which match out psychological make-up, so that beliefs and neurosis are perfectly complementary.

I think that this important point might be missing from these conversations…very young children are not just taught with ideas, but more importantly with touch…they are taught to feel safe and to relate, of to feel separate and fearful.

“Is this too much to ask of our species?”
I believe the species is ready for a change. We are so ready that some of us are just waiting for the coming of our deity as promised by our deities in books that people believe are written by deities. So No it’s not too much to ask, the species is wanting or desiring a change now. The more love becomes shared, the more love becomes shared. It IS what all humans wish to experience and some are just waiting to experience it’s existance.

“Whether or not a person believes in this thing called “God,” can we find a way to believe in the Oneness of Life?”
Many people are claiming that they have no need for a God. I believe some of us have no need for some of the translations which explains God. I had a respected teacher tell me that his parents did not believe in God, they were atheists, I snapped back “I don’t believe in atheists!” It surprised both of us! He said the found the majesty of the mountains and the oceans and the wonders of the universe (I’m paraphrasing, bad memory). I thought to myself, they believe in yet another definition of God and do not wish to call it God. People are waiting to hear the message that we are one, because we are and everyone can already feel it, they just don’t know or have forgotten how to express it.

“Can we agree that we are all part of the same expression, simply in differing form? And can we agree that as part of that singular expression, we might do well to abandon some of our individual objectives in favor of singular outcomes? Outcomes that shower goodness not on the smallest number, but on the largest? Can we agree that we are all part of the same expression, simply in differing form?”
The differing form. Here in lies the problem. Prejudices of anything different. As I express acceptance for people, however different they may be from myself, I find an acceptance in return. Kindness shows up in the face of kindness. This is not true in EVERY case but it is 99.99% of the time. I have not saved the world but I may have changed the world in the eyes of another, who may in turn change the world of another. This happens because we are all human beings looking for the same exact thing day in day out. Love.

“Can we agree that as part of that singular expression, we might do well to abandon some of our individual objectives in favor of singular outcomes? Outcomes that shower goodness not on the smallest number, but on the largest?”
I say it all the time, usually in reference to something that seems less important than the world, I say “No worries, Anything can be fixed!”. It’s true, anything can be fixed. Not always in a series of actions that are satisfying to those involved, but fixed it will be. The answer is to quit worrying about it and put change into action. Thinking about something never got it done. I think all the time about people I see and I pass up an opportunity to help because I’m too busy helping someone else, truthfully helping myself because I’m helping a paying customer. Since this weighs heavy in my thoughts it will become an action more and more because it has already started. Smallest or largest number doesn’t really matter as it becomes a competition to do better. Just do what is right as I define right every time giving myself the ability to change what I define as right at any given moment.

I have changed many things about myself in the past few years without perfection, but I have noticed a major difference, not only in people who I encounter but how I think about many things. The only thing I have actually changed is how I treat and feel about other human beings, which has also changed how I feel about animals and trees and grass and life in general around me. The change has been phenomenal. Prejudice has no place in our lives, we all seek to be different in some way another, special even, and without others who are different we cannot be. The one thing that will always hold true is that “We must be the change we wish to see”. I am willing to be that and currently practice that as I learn more and more what that is.

I’m going to use this space to share parts of my own journey–my own awakening to the incredible abilities of individual human beings, how we can change how we see ourselves, and thus how we view life and its purpose. Some of this may be difficult to read, and some difficult to believe. However, this is my truth, and I’ve been inspired to share it by this column.

The beginning of my life was controlled by unhealthy people, which gave me a distorted view of myself and my place in the world. My father, severely mentally ill to the point he could not see or acknowledge it, was a controlling and violent man, which my mother realized soon after the wedding. My mother, raised to believe she would marry and be subservient to her husband for the rest of her life, was a functional alcoholic by the time I was born about 12 years later as the 6th of their 7 children. They were each raised in the Roman Catholic Church in ultraconservative families during the Great Depression and World War II, and never questioned the beliefs of their families, faith or country.

In contrast, I have come to believe that I agreed to be born into this physical world in this particular family as pre-arranged by my Soul, the other Souls I’ve interacted with including my family, and Divine Energy (what some call God or Yaweh or Allah). This belief has been borne out by my life itself and the experiences therein.

While I was raised in the “separation theology” of the church, I didn’t know myself as separate from my parents, especially my father. His uncontrolled illnesses caused him to become more violent, more sadistic and more grandiose in his beliefs about himself as time went on so that my very life depended on my being completely and utterly focused on him. My earliest memory from age two is of hiding from him in terror in a passageway that ran behind my sisters’ walk-in closets. He was looking specifically for me, calling out my name.

My father had many faces, from the Great Teacher to the Charismatic Male to the Rageful Monster to the Disciplinarian to the Cold Sadist to the Challenger. In order to be safe, I had to be aware of his energy and mood and plans at all times. I believe I first started seeing these different faces when I shared my parent’s bedroom for about the first two years of my life. Then we moved, and I saw even more as he raped my sisters in the bedroom we all shared.

At three, my baby brother was born and the only available space for him was in my parent’s bedroom. Claiming the disruption was too much while he worked on his MA, my father set up a bedroom of sorts for himself in the basement. He had already been physically and mentally abusing me. If he hadn’t begun to sexually abuse me before moving to the basement, he did so then. I have distinct memories from age three or four.

When we moved to the home I spent most of my childhood in from nearly five years old, my bedroom was not only in the center of the house, but right next to the master bedroom. This meant two things. First, I was always aware of what was going on in the house and with whom, especially as it involved my father. Second, it gave him easy access to me after my mother drank herself to sleep. (I was once freestyle journaling about the proximity of my room and only realized upon later reading that I’d written “it was only eight steps from his bedside to mine” and suddenly recalled where every footfall of his landed.)

By that time, I had already figured out that there were different rules I needed to follow to survive my father’s different faces. If he was in a manic rage, I could hide. I somehow figured out that I could pull out the bottom drawer of my built-in dresser, crawl through and then pull the drawer back in place, hiding in the space behind the drawers where I kept a flashlight, my Raggedy Ann doll and my children’s bible. If he was in a sadistic mode and specifically looking for me, I couldn’t hide or the torture was worse. If his Challenger came out, he would ask me to do something for him like make him a drink and, if it were not perfect (including uncracked ice cubes, no drips on the cocktail napkin and the fruit on the toothpick in the right order), he had an excuse to “correct” me. If we were in public, I had to be the obedient and doting daughter or pay for it later. And there were more faces than what I’ve mentioned here.

These different faces of my father created Dissociative Identity Disorder, or multiple personalities, in me. It was my own personal, internal Separation Theology. I think that’s one of the reasons that I know it’s possible to have discrete aspects of myself working on my behalf, and eventually coming together through healing as the conglomerate I am today. While integration into a singular personality was popular at the time I was in therapy, I chose instead to express my gratitude for all my alts had done for me and invited them to continue their journeys with me. I exist as 10 facets of personality, including the core personality of Ann. At the time of my decision to not integrate, we and some close friends formalized it with a ritual where all of my parts became known as Annie.

It’s not difficult, then, for me to have come to the conclusion that there were other parts of who I am, including my Soul and Divinity itself, working in cooperation to create my life along with the physical being that I am. I’ve just recently started to refer to myself as a “triune being” consisting of my physical self, my Soul and Divine Energy, always working in concert for the benefit of all three. Between my conglomerate and my triune being, it’s been evident to me that it’s possible to be One without any part losing its unique identity.

Having connected deeply with Nature as a child, I also had no problem seeing myself as part of it. Being the Secretary of our Neighborhood Association as a teen, I also learned that each individual in a group brings unique gifts to an organization while the organization has an identity of its own. In contrast, I saw that the church I was raised in assigned specific roles for all to fill with rules that must be followed. Individuality was discouraged, as it was in the schools I attended. I was ultimately faced with having to choose between which of the two worldviews I believed more valid and commit to it. I chose unity over separation, just as I had in therapy and my personal Spirituality.

That sense of unity isn’t always a comfortable stance to take in public, especially in the United States where individual achievements are rewarded. Competition starts early in our school systems and continues in our working lives. Our social lives can also reflect competition in the form of “keeping up with the Joneses,” or the portrayal of who “the Joneses” are in entertainment and advertising. If we choose a stance of unity, whether with Nature or Divinity or a minority group, we find ourselves outside of the norm, often leading solo lives. It’s natural to want to “go along” and to be accepted, but it’s not always what gets us to where we say we want to go.

Even when we find like-minded people, our organizations don’t always reflect the unity we say we prefer. The top-down model of business with its hierarchy, competition for promotion and conformity to the rules has a stranglehold on our minds. Cliques develop in nonprofits as easily as they do in business and society. There may well be an increased interest in awakening humanity to the dire conditions we have co-created, shown by the increased number of organizations whose stated missions are to do so. Yet even here we find competition for members as often as we find cooperation and coordination.

Yet I’m optimistic for the future of humanity because I serve as a living example of how cooperation while maintaining our unique qualities can be a choice that serves us well. I would not have survived my father’s abuses had I not dissociated into compartmentalized alts that each served that survival in their own way. I would not be who it is that I am today had I not learned from my mother that there are times when one must stand up for what one believes is fair. I would not have broken through the glass ceilings in construction inspection if I believed I had no right to be as good as, or better than, my male counterparts. But none of that happened in a vacuum. It was also through cooperation that I came to be who I am today.

One of my most often repeated preferences, in private and in public, is to see more cooperative efforts between organizations and communities who are trying to awaken humanity to our own power to create the change we need for our own survival. Many have spoken of a “world government” but less of a “global community.” Even those that do often leave out “all our relatives” contained on and in Mother Earth and Father Sky, reserving the community for humanity alone.

I don’t have the answers, just my voice and my example. It’s my choice to speak and write that sometimes alienates me from others, even though I do my best to reach others gently rather than by force. Many would judge my life as lacking much–finances, health, a large circle of friends, employment, sometimes even food and lifesaving medicine.

I judge my life as full–of hope, of unconditional love, of cooperation in my individuality, of quality friendships over quantity, of freedom from conformity, of awareness. This is my choice, and I act on it every single day as the complex, triune being that I am.

    Love and Blessings Always,
    ~Annie

There is something interesting going on in the minds of people who want what they call God to intervene in their lives, beside the peculiar idea that God is as a daddy who should hold his children by the hand and carry them through turmoils.

Let’s use pure logic: let’s agree with the original assumption that God created the world. This would imply that the world was created according to some basic principles and laws, such as “natural laws”. It could then, following this line of thought, be assumed that at least some of God’s nature or essence is manifested and expressed within the creation, through these laws, just as an artist expresses her nature in her paintings.

Yet…the religious, thinking that the divine is totally separate from and a bit of a stranger to the creation, is looking for “signs” outside and above life itself…and expects that the only way his God can actually manifest its presence is when breaking these natural laws…when overcoming nature and performing “miracles”, which are nothing more than the outcomes of broken natural laws!

I would compare this to the absurd nation that the only way we could possibly become aware of the existence of an artist were if he broke his own paintings…rather than knowing him through looking at his paintings!

An important point and very well said, my friend.

Many look for magic or miracles or personal intervention by their vision of who God is to “fix” them or their lives, abdicating any personal responsibility. This places those people in the position of victim, either to circumstances or a conditionally loving God. (“If only i were worthy enough, God would…”)

Seeing the Divine in the natural world is, for me, the most astounding miracle of all. That I get the opportunity within it to decide for myself who it is I choose to be in relationship to it and the experiences I personally, and we collectively, create is an honor, a responsibility and my greatest source of joy. It also places me in a position of personal power rather than victimhood.

It’s a scary idea for many, this acceptance that our lives are what they are because of the laws of cause and effect, but I’m not sure there’s a more powerful worldview because once we own it, we can change ourselves and our lives into what we choose them to be.

      Love and Blessings Always,

Thanks Annie…yes we agree…and it is great that you have that connection with nature, which is also very healing.
It takes quite a bit of self-knowledge to understand personal responsibility and gain the creative power to manifest what we are and want…and I have found that unfortunately most people spend most of their time running as fast as they can from themselves.

Y’know, I wasn’t always so certain of my own involvement in the cause and effect of spiritual energy. Yet it became obvious to me through nature–my own.

I know now that I was driven to work my body hard in part because there were times when I had no control over what was done to it, or even what it did (seizures from juvenile epilepsy). That is the main cause of my degenerative disk disease. I held a lot of rage for many years, which I believe manifested later as gall bladder issues requiring it to need removal from the bile I produced.

Because of the sexual abuse I experienced as a child and young adult, I didn’t like and even at times hated my femaleness. It’s not surprising now, looking back, that I had a horrid time with my menstrual periods, ovarian cysts, fibrocystic breast tissue, and uterine growths that led to a hysterectomy.

Sometimes the cause is so powerful and the effect so cumulative that it’s not obvious while the process is at work, or the effect delayed so that we don’t always connect the cause. And sometimes the effect cannot be reversed.

          Just some additional thoughts…

Yes, and then there is the cause behind the cause…layers and layers until we get to the core, the most painful part to face, which sometime has to do with a form of spiritual self-betrayal born of judgment and guilt.

Why do we choose challenging lives that begin with so much pain and suffering? Are we punishing ourselves for our actions in past lives? Do we think we have much to learn from such challenges?

The difficult path to self-knowledge is not something that can be undertaken by anyone but ourselves…and every path is unique, there are no rules, but there are occasionally commonalities.

I admire your survival skills Annie. You definitively grew into a very strong person, or perhaps you were always strong but did not know it yet, until you placed yourself in this situation (Neale would say “your soul” placed you).

“Why do we choose challenging lives that at times begin with so much pain and suffering? Are we punishing ourselves for our actions in past lives as some people believe? Or do we think we have much to learn from such challenges?”

In my point of view, the answer is neither. I believe we all choose the lives we do for the same reason, whether or not that life includes early pain and suffering. First, to define who we are in relation to the events in our lives. Second, to come to understand that suffering is universal and thereby gives us a means to feel compassion and unconditional love for all. Third, to come to understand that suffering is optional in order to help relieve the suffering of others.

On a personal note, it’s been shared with me through direct internal communion that I chose this particular life because of the opportunities it provided for deep spiritual evolution for all those involved: myself, the perpetrators of the abuses, those whose lives are touched by those major players, and through them, humanity as a whole.

By having the courage and perseverance to follow Neale’s five levels of truth telling, I can impact the lives of many, if they’re ready to awaken. The first is to tell ourselves the truth about ourselves. The second is to tell another the truth about ourselves. Third is telling ourselves the truth about another. With the fourth, we tell the truth about that other to the other. Finally, there is the telling the truth about everything to everyone. I’ve found that, in this life, I cycle through these truths in deeper and deeper levels when it comes to the abuses I’ve experienced.

I’ve also been told during direct internal communion, and it’s been confirmed by so many I’ve interacted with, that my next level is to publish a book. Whether or not it sells or gets good reviews or makes any lists isn’t the point. Rather, it is to put the truth out in a format where it will reach more who are ready to hear it for their own purposes.

It’s my preference such a book will lead to more conversations about abuses and healing by bringing these subjects “out of the closet” to help reduce the unearned shame of those who experience such abuses, as well as giving me more opportunities to walk a healing journey with some of them. Doing so brings to me the most meaningful life moments I’ve had, as well as my greatest joys.

            Love and Blessings Always,
            ~Annie

Great idea about a book, I really encourage you to do it. Don’t postpone! Let everyone know when it is out, Neale should not mind, hopefully, as it would powerfully illustrate his method.

When we heal, we never heal alone…and yes, only the truth can heal, and it always begins with ourselves. Truth takes courage, but without courage, we fall short of who we are. I don’t think that we can succeed without courage…in any endeavor. And then joy comes!

            Take care Annie

Hey there stranger, or just strange.
Is your client doing your head in????

Tackle this one…….in my huge final psychology assignment, basically a novel wiyh each character a case study, one of my threads is kn how to control people or to make them comply with the made up rules, or deal. My threat, posed as a deal with God ghat would carry a curse I called Esaus curse (scripture). If they didnt play by the rules or honour the deal (to create a crime and suffering free community, a Heaven in Earth) then they would be cursed with a ginger haired baby! Scary, I know. I just finished it, or so I thought, and was cleaning out a linen cupboard ( yes I need 3!), and found a big baby doll I forgot I had. With ginger hair. Creepy ghjng came with an antique cane dolls pram I bought years ago!!
Blatant sign from God, but even comllying with my own crock I made up, to tell me I failed something, that was easy for me to find…I just forgot to analize one persons name, so had to tweak their role a bit.
Is this what you would call a miracle…to me its normal. Scripture states God communicates with signs, and He isnt discreet at all!!!

Not a fan of abstract art, does that mean I dont like the artist???? I dont like cake but am a cake decorator…is your theory that I dont like myself either? Well that would resolve a lot…I dont like you or myself!!!!! Actually, we should just kill ourselves now!! Heck, I dont like CwG, now this is getting really scary Professor! I do agree with what you mean thoughm but Im not telling you that, you must have a groupie that can. Haha.

Actually whats actually scary is a gross earwax I just had, seriously! Thought youd be interested!

      Take care Mewtrumpgroupie,

        Hey Gingerhairedstein,

The very interesting earwax was definitively a sign from way above (from the Boss) that you need to listen more carefully to Professor, whoever that is! You know the old Chinese saying, Professor shows up when the student has wax-free ears…

The ginger haired baby is quite a curse…I can’t imagine having one and not immediately loosing your mind. You must be truly evil to think of such horrendous things…I am in shock!

Not like abstract art? What? What’s not to like? There is nothing there? Exactly…nothing to dislike. How about abstract cakes? Ever tried? You might like…and appeal to a very sophisticated clientele loaded with money!
How about cakes that portray the disintegration of our world?…Like, a pile of melting and messy stuff? Of course it would not work unless it is presented together with a very intellectual essay about the human existential condition. Then target the very trendy, very cool crowds…don’t you have some?

I gotta go back to work…Trump hired me as a speech writer. I am working on a speech announcing Armageddon. He is going to love it.

Yes I know about the ginger curse, as evil as I could get. I knew I had it in me…move over Stephen King, theres a new horror writer in town. I was soooooo close to having them go to Walmart as well, but just didnt have it in me.

I do abstract cakes a lot..well its the mounds of cake trimmings on the bench before I feed it to the birds. Considering how orderly and I am, its very abstract to me!!

Funnt Trump has hired you as a speech writer, he’s my token ginger, and hired me as a wall builder. He heard I had lots of Lego. A whole Lego City, maybe he can get me to build a walled city. I can wear my luuurvly white velvet sombrero while I do it.

          Heck, Id love Armageddon.

One Armageddon coming up! Will that be for here or to go? Anything to drink with your Armageddon?

We will have walls everywhere…I heard that they are going to wall in Texas as well. Oh well, no loss there…

God can be anything or anywho you desire God to be. God can be a personal God helping in times of trouble or an abstract God as simply energy in the Universe that like electricity, can be used for good or less good as we desire to define such terms. Or, both.

Also, what we perceive as God helping, may or can be angels, guides, ancestors, ET’s or simply our aligning with such energy & allowing. Or, simply tapping into the energy intelligence creativity that’s always available, but depending on our own receptivity do we see it work & play as we desire.

Yes, that’s true, but some versions are more primitive. childish or anthropomorphic, and other versions are a bit more evolved…our choice!

As far as help, I agree, there is much help available from the spirit world. But again this help is meant to keep us growing, not to keep us in a state of dependent infancy, spiritually speaking.

Hi friend…By “miracles”, I meant things that transcend or overcome common natural laws…such as the law of gravity, etc. Miracles in this sense are basically things that we do not yet understand, and that are extremely unusual. Another word would be “supernatural”.

They are usually attributed to an extraordinary intervention by “God” or the Spirit world.

My point was that these spectacular fireworks (“miracles”) are what people seek as “proofs” of the existence of “God” or the Spirit world, or as “signs”, while being totally blind to the everyday miracle of everyday life.

Of coarse I was just giving you a hard time in fun. I have seen moments that people call a miracle, only to see that it was acts of love between humans, as it should be. I may be guilty of believing that a sharing of love is a miracle, in truth it’s very common. I enjoy seeing what seemed impossible occur on the side of life. Survivors who rode the twin towers collapse, from the top, and survive, is very miraculous.

          3. mewabe Avatar
            mewabe

There are no rules, no laws about what people choose to be or how they chose to live. Some life events are accidents, while most are the outcomes or reflections of our thoughts, both individual and collective. Think of the outside world as a mirror…it reflects you, your thoughts, your state of consciousness. This is how you learn about your own creative power and your own state of mind. People (and life) reflect you right back to you…

As far as why a person would be born blind, I don’t know. Only this person might know, eventually, perhaps. There are no blanket answers to anything in life, and no matter how far science progresses, there will always be some challenges and difficulties in life.

Again everything is an opportunity for understanding, love and compassion, or fear and judgment. Do you want an absolutely perfect world? A world without any difficulties would be the same as having no gravity: our “psychological muscles” would weaken.

What is it that you are after anyway, apart from a time machine? Are you here to debate? If that’s the case, I won’t debate you…I will let you figure things out on your own. And if you have already figured everything out, which is probably the case, then please let us know, so we can all be equally enlightened.

“In my view a world without any difficulties would be the same as having no gravity: our “psychological muscles” would weaken.”
The truth of the matter is that we don’t know. We never lived in a world were we can heal any disease or problem so we have no reference point.

          5. mewabe Avatar
            mewabe

True, we don’t know…we can only use our imagination at this point.

Love, ideally, needs no conditions. But many people’s hearts are closed, for different reasons. Like a closed door that won’t open, sometime it seems that our hearts have to be broken in order to open…such as, some people have to suffer themselves in order to feel compassion and emphasize with the suffering.

They have to walk that path in order to understand and be sensitive to another person’s condition. This is the way of the “wounded healer”…people who go into psychology and become counselors because they have themselves suffered, and have deeper insights (rather than just book knowledge) into what it is like to go through certain things, such as being abused as a child, etc.

          6. Mateia Andrei (A true friend) Avatar

The only problem is that some people can use the same circumstances that you have describe in order to inflict suffering on his perpetrator and he might extend it to his entire community and even the world at large. What do you think about that case?

          7. mewabe Avatar
            mewabe

In that case I think that such a person is unleashing a form of rage and revenge on the perpetrator and or community at large…Which to me means that he hasn’t totally dealt with his pain and hasn’t really healed his own wounds. It is very difficult to heal, but possible.

          8. Mateia Andrei (A true friend) Avatar
            Mateia Andrei (A true friend)

What if what he lost cannot be regained and sees himself justified in paying back his perpetrator. For the sake of argument let’s say that God intervenes and gives him back what he lost. After God has given him what he wanted back he simply goes on minding his own business. What is your opinion on that?

          9. mewabe Avatar
            mewabe

In my view healing does not mean regaining what is lost. For example, an abused or neglected child cannot ever regain a normal childhood after becoming adult. That’s the hard part, very hard…and that’s what healing is about, coming to term with the realization that something is lost forever.

It’s an emotionally totally devastating realization, but that’s where healing comes in, with the ability to express and release one’s pain (and anger etc), even if it takes years. Again it is not easy…but even if something cannot be repaired physically, it can eventually be healed emotionally and psychologically, that is to say that the emotional pain (and anger) can be released, even when there is a lot of it. It takes time…and a caring person who has empathy and can listen.

    Hey, Y’All!

I don’t normally do this (which should tell you something), and I questioned whether it was appropriate as it is an opinion piece thas to do with American politics written on Daily KOS, known to be anti-Trump. I’m in the habit of reading all available slants and try to discern where the truth lies somewhere in the mix. I found the quote is from Steve Bannon at CPAP from multiple sources. I checked out the link, which is legitimate, and rather frightening to me as it sounds like a throwback to some combo of Nationalism and an Industrial (now called “Corporate”) Age, but with an IT facelift.

Then I remembered how many times Neale has pointed out (I’m paraphrasing) that the root of all of the systems by which we live are generally codified religious tenets based on a misunderstanding of who and what God (by any name) is, and therefore our relationship with that God, so the solution to our political problems are spiritual in nature.

Ill let the piece speak for itself, though due to it’s length, ill just quote the highlights. >>>>>>>>>>>>>

    By Dartagnan, Daily KOS
    2/23/17 @ 4:27PM

    The Headline:
“Bannon Admits Trump’s Cabinet Nominees Were Selected To Destroy Their Agencies.”
    >>>>>>>>>>>>

    The Pull Quote”
“Atop Trump’s agenda, Bannon said, was the ‘deconstruction of the administrative state’— meaning a system of taxes, regulations and trade pacts that the president and his advisers believe stymie economic growth and infringe upon one’s sovereignty.

“‘If you look at these Cabinet nominees, they were selected for a reason, and that is deconstruction,’ Bannon said.”
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    The Conclusion:

“Bannon knows that there is no realistic substitute for these Federal agencies. When Bannon talks about dismantling the ‘Administrative state,’ what he’s really talking about is allowing corporations and industry the absolute right to do whatever they want, whenever and wherever they want, regardless of its harmful impact on American citizens. ‘Deconstruction,’ in the pie-in-the sky fevered dreams of the Heritage Foundation, means exactly what it sounds like, as the report linked here illustrates— www[dot]heritage[dot]org/political-process/report/administrative-state-constitutional-government — a process by which no Agency regulation for protection of the public may occur without Congressional approval. In practice, with the current composition of the Republican-dominated Congress, this amounts to complete corporate predation, the absolute elimination of our ability as citizens to halt corporate malfeasance. In essence, he’s talking about corporate-enforced slavery, aided and abetted by a Congress corrupted through and through with corporate largesse.

“Bannon is a fanatic, a clear and present danger to the America we all know and care about. Unfortunately, his fanaticism, poured into the ear of someone as fundamentally incurious and vain as Donald Trump, brings us closer to the wholesale destruction of this country than any of us could have expected in our lifetimes. ”

Put your seatbelt on (Not legally required) it’s going to be a rough ride. There is a reason I’m putting in a well with a hand pump, learning to butcher, putting together recipes for things normally purchased at a grocery store, and raising a garden. My wife is learning to sew and most of our tools operate without electricity (we are learning with modern equipment though). We are making friends with people who raise animals and have specific knowledge whether we like them or not. Thankfully we like them all. Tie all of that together with a spiritual view that is a loving one, without prejudice, regardless of how rich or poor, the color of ones skin, or who they share their bed with. Unkind people, those are few a far between believe it or not, do not impress us much, we try give kindness and some just won’t receive it….Anyway… We are preparing for the worst, when it doesn’t happen, we will still try to pass on our knowledge before we pass on.

Every president since Reagan, has been complained about to me in some fashion or another and since I have been to an estimated more than 39000 homes since 1991, that’s a lot of complaining. Very little is ever said to support any president anymore. To complain seems to be the normal these days. It’s not limited to the president either. EVERYTHING is unfair or being done wrong. Yet here we are. I recently went through a time of being angry over the state of our planet, my emotional involvement wasn’t doing me any good, It’s happening and it’s going to continue until enough people are ready to wake up and make the change. I refuse to live angry anymore.

This has been a sharing of my thoughts and in no way a putting down of others opinions and /or thoughts about anything. Just in case it sounds like a defense in some way or another. We do have problems that need attention, I have no idea what to do but complain, and that does no good to my thought process.

        Hi Stephen…

What we are seeing is not illogical. It is perfectly consistent with the direction western civilization has chosen since antiquity. This direction has always been towards achieving control, power and mastery over all life. This is evident in wars between nations, but not so evident in everyday living, because most people do not realize that civilization is, and always has been, waging a war against nature, against life.

Fascism is the political expression of this drive for power and control. It is the logical tool for the ultimate suppression of dissent, when some segments of the population start becoming conscious of the fact that we are actually destroying our current eco-system, and are not too happy about it.

Native Americans have seen the writing on the wall for over 500 years now. It’s fairly easy to see, the letters are so huge. All it takes is clarity of mind, and to be in tune with reality, that is to say attuned to the earth, to life.

Most members of contemporary societies are not attuned to life because they buy into these false civilized concepts of power and mastery over life. They are consequently part of the problem.

Science and technologies are also part of the problem. Civilization is using many weapons in its war against nature, in its fundamental drive to achieve power, control and mastery. Whether it is manipulating DNA or attempting to control the weather, the end result is the same: tinkering with what we do not yet understand, basically playing with fire and creating chaos.

This pathological drive for control comes from fear (all unreasonable and obsessive drives for control do). And this fear is a spiritual illness…it comes from what Neale calls a “theology of separation”. I am not sure that Neale connected these particular dots though (separation-fear-a controlling civilization).

Let’s just say I am not surprised by any of this. I saw it coming, and more, when I was still a child. All I did at the time was look at nature…then I looked at civilization, and I got it. We are headed for more chaos than we can imagine…this civilization will pursue the path (or theology) of separation to the very end (what the Lakota call the black road, the road of difficulties).

        Hold on to your soul!

    3. mewabe Avatar
      mewabe

Hey Annie, I don’t think there is anything wrong with talking about what is going on in the world…a spirituality which is completely removed from the world quickly becomes irrelevant.

To begin with, only about half of the American population votes…so who votes? Those who are strongly motivated and very driven by powerful, and usually extremist, ideologies (and fundamentalist, extreme dogmas).

The political ideologies themselves are irrelevant to the military-industrial-corporate-banking complex, as their only “ideologies” are profit and power …but these political ideologies are very useful to manipulate and control the masses.

Politics in America work like this: Democrats and Republicans are like one body with 2 heads. The one body keeps going in the same direction, while the two heads put on a show of arguing about minor issues. And the public is not allowed to see the body, only the two heads.

So the two heads seem to fight about social issues, such as abortion, gay marriage, access to same gender bathrooms to transgenders, and immigration, while the one body keeps going, totally unchallenged, in the direction of endless war and illegal regime changes (imperialism), the exhaustion of natural resources and destruction of the environment, unsustainable economic growth, the control of government by corporations and Wall street, and the militarization of police and surveillance of the population by unaccountable intelligence agencies.

And the population is made, with the complicity of the corporate media, to be extremely divided and even rageful about these superficial and emotionally charged social issues, while completely blind to the more important issues, which if not addressed might actually destroy our world, and on which both parties agree, because neither serve the people but serve their master puppeteer, the military-industrial-corporate-banking complex.

The myth in America is, additionally, that of the existence of and control by the “left”. People fall for it…but there is no left in America. There are Democrats who are “socially progressive and economically conservative”…in other words people who want women to have access to abortion but want to otherwise keep the status quo…They for example do not mind the US bombing 7 nations that never attacked us, and support fracking and other forms of environmental rape, as well as increased surveillance and serious infringements on the fist and fourth amendments, to name just a few serious issues. They do not mind a President made into a king, who has life and death powers over his subjects…who has the power to assassinate or indefinitely imprison whomever he please without charges, without any trial or any proof whatsoever of culpability.

It will get worse, because populations are so easily manipulated, it is basically hopeless. Most people do not seem to be able to connect the dots, or to see beyond tomorrow. We have entered a dark age, and a large majority of the American population is actually welcoming it.

What other population, apart from Americans, would, while living in a relatively free and affluent nation, welcome fascism? This should demonstrate the incredibly sophisticated manipulative powers of the media and of the corporatocracy, of the elite.

As Russel Means once said, and as I have quoted here a couple of times already: “Welcome to the reservation”.
