WHO and WHAT is ‘God’?

Who and what is God?

The day has long past when we imagined that God is a huge man in the sky, sitting on a throne in robes with a long white beard. Today we know better that that, right?

Right?

So then, who and what IS ‘God’? Is there even such a thing? And if so, what is it? And what is its purpose for existence? And what does it want from us? What does it need humanity to be, do, or have?

All of these questions are answered in Conversations with God. Yet the answers are, for many (indeed, for most of the people on Earth who profess a belief in God) heretical.

The CWG message is considered blasphemy. Yet is it? George Bernard Shaw famously said, “All great truths begin as blasphemy.” Could this be the case with Conversations with God?

Setting aside these books for a moment, what are your answers to the questions above? Is there a ‘God’? If so, who and what is God? Why does God exist? What is God’s purpose? And, most important of all, what does God want? And why?

Let the discussion begin…

i believe yes, there is a god. As far as who or what god is, we could go into endless pointless debate and not come closer to an answer. after all, if we don’t agree, one of us has to be right, true?
maybe a more important question is where is god, and what does she do? where is easy…in me, in you, in everything. i think god might just be all of us, the collective consciousness of all consciousness. every other question you ask has a singular answer.

Is there a God? Not in the sense of a religious definition from our past history. There is One force, Source Energy, and it exist Everywhere, within Everything, even thought and non thought. So this definition answers question two, who and what. Why does Creator exist? Love, experiencing existence within the physical plane, as a union of energy and matter, ie pure wonderment. The purpose, everything…and Source Energy/God already eternal, omnipotent, needs NOT ONE THING. Sorry ego you really don’t matter, your judgements don’t matter, and your feeble brain can not imagine the Love that is all around you, until you release your need to understand, control, etc. Just Be ONE with ALL. Life is good, exciting, and full of whatever we create for Ourselves. Namaste’

God or more accurately, the Force:
A neutral invisible energy that like electricity, can be used for our benefit or non benefit depending on how well we understand & use the neutral invisible God energy.

The neutral invisible energy acts like a mirror, especially, to dominant thoughts, beliefs & feelings we hold. We use this energy to explore all the other questions & eventually delight in the answers we receive.

The free will allowed by this energy to experience both the good & bad suggests a loving energy, allowing us to have it all & decide what we prefer. We do not have to interpret this energy as loving, however, by doing so it works & plays in our highest favor.

You say, Marko, it’s neutral, and yet you choose to see it as positive. Is there any chance this lie is creating conflict within you?

God is as Neale described in CWG: In the realm of the “Absolute,” God is in its most essential form: consciousness without thought; just an awareness that it is conscious. The Absolute underlies and permeates everything. It is isotropic and existing everywhere at once, and everything that is created is contained within it. The realm where physical creation occurs is the “Relative,” with thought being the first creation.

Why does God exist? Who knows. (Contemplating that or *how* he came into being is beyond my mind’s ability to comprehend). But why *We* exist is clear: To enable God to gain experience, through us. That is what God wants, but I won’t go so far as to guess that is his entire purpose, which is probably more related to Why he wants experience.

As for religionists labeling CWG blasphemy, I find few things more amusing than when they describe why it is blasphemy. The loops of circular logic (or illogic) they execute would paralyze the universe’s most powerful computers!

“You say, Marko, it’s neutral, and yet you choose to see it as positive. Is there any chance this lie is creating conflict within you?” No I don’t.

Why do you think it’s a lie & why do you think it causes conflict?

If reality is engineered & Imagineered to work in our favor by using/understanding the LOA, then it behooves us to work & play toward that which is beneficial & positive. We have a conscious choice rather than default non conscious or unconscious choice.

You said yourself the energy is neutral, yet you convince yourself it’s good. This declaration is a falsehood, by definition, a lie.

Conflict occurs when things are out of balance. You define yourself as good, and your life situation is good, and as far as I can tell your living in Shambala, so besides antagonistic people like me, you have nothing and no one bad in your experience to offset your goodness.

The light cannot know itself as the light in the absence of darkness.

I can feel the darkness within me, but I sense none in you, which shouldn’t be possible, unless it’s been suppressed so deep in you, with no outlet, that one day it all comes out in a hurry.

“You said yourself the energy is neutral, yet you convince yourself it’s good. This declaration is a falsehood, by definition, a lie.”

This is incorrect Buzz. It’s all good. What we have as we evolve, is the choice to consider if we desire less negative, including none at all as CwG book 3 points out on HEB’s. Almost everyone desires less negative. Exceptions are few.

So the neutralism works & plays good or bad as we define, experience & interpret it. As I said, using the LOA we can choose to use this neutral energy Source as good, beneficial etc. Why? Because it’s in my/our best interest to take this information & use it to our benefit. I’m not sure I can state this any more clearly.

“…you have nothing and no one bad in your experience to offset your goodness.”

Well for the most part the majority of my life so far is very good & the bad as I might interpret it is more the minority & temporary, as I have tools to off set it & recontextualize it as favorable.

I had in my life deaths, suicides, break ins (one attempt several months ago) cars stolen at least 4 times, been deathly ill & in a wheel chair. My father in law (in his 70’s) was taken behind a warehouse beaten with a board & stabbed several times. (He survived) It’s not like my whole life was just honky dory while “eating rainbows & pooping butterflies.”

Never the less life is good, life is challenging. But it’s not like I’ve not had bad things happen or am so pure of thought that I don’t get angry or frustrated I do, it just doesn’t last long & is usually more quickly rectified. Don’t be naive Buzz I have things to work on.

“The light cannot know itself as the light in the absence of darkness.”

Okay I’ve explained my position on this before. We will always have contrasts. We don’t have to always have negativity & I feel we grow out it as we advance.

If you want to keep the negativity, knock yourself out, plenty out there & many would be willing to share theirs with you. I’m not one of them. I don’t think I have to explain this to you anymore right?

“I can feel the darkness within me, but I sense none in you, which shouldn’t be possible, unless it’s been suppressed so deep in you, with no outlet, that one day it all comes out in a hurry.”

You are correct that suppression is not healthy & can come back to bite us in the ass to greater or lesser degrees depending on the suppression. I still have darkness within me. Just a whole lot less than I use to. I work & play to live as best I can what CwG book one says page 176.

“When you achieve certain states of being over a long period of time, success in what you are doing in the world is very difficult to avoid.” This is what I’ve been & continually working & playing toward.

It’s not “… engineered & Imagineered to work in our favor.” LoA says we get whatever we pay attention to, and that all events and circumstances are neutral. It’s not “in our favour.” It’s in our minds, creating what we tell it to. It’s a telepathic factory.

The genie from storybooks always warn us to be careful what we wish for, just incase we get it, but since we’re always in the creative process, and the genies never stops, never sleeps, and we are most definately NOT careful with our thoughts most of the time, we are not working in our own favor, so how can we expect the genie to be?

We are barely conscious of ourselves. We are still so primitive. Most of our thoughts are habitually subconscious or instictively unconscious, so much so we don’t even know they’re happening.

You can’t be conscious if you can’t determine that you’re not, or what it is you’re not conscious of.

  11. Marko Avatar

“LoA says we get whatever we pay attention to, and that all events and circumstances are neutral.”

Precisely, now we can use this consciously in our favor, just because the Source Energy itself is neutral does not mean we can’t use it any way we like, that’s the beauty of it.

We get to choose & decide “how” to use it.

You’re quote from pg 176 is completely accurate, as a force of habit. Are you saying your state of being, as you are now, is the result of maintaining these ” certain states of being over a long period of time …”? How long has it taken you, with persistent, conscious effort, retraining yourself at the habitual level, to be this way?

    Any tips you can share?

Most of the rest of the 7:23 post I agree with too, yet maintain your position is a contradiction. Do you think it’s possible to experience an event, and form a flawlessly neutral opinion of it, neither good or bad; positive or negative?

“Are you saying your state of being, as you are now, is the result of maintaining these ” certain states of being over a long period of time …”? Yes I am.

“How long has it taken you, with persistent, conscious effort, retraining yourself at the habitual level, to be this way?”

How long? 30 years or more.
What happen was about a year ago I started to realize something startling. I was not thinking negatively as my majority any more it was now a minority. I was catching negative stuff much quicker, it doesn’t slip by as much & gratitude & appreciation are a more continuous state for me.

To be fair the gratitude & appreciation very in degrees & it’s becoming a easier more natural practice for me.

Yet it is currently expressing itself a lot & therefore out ward events move into place with less or no effort. I think I’m in the beginning & early stages of where a primitive consciousness is starting to get a modest handle on things. Not enlightenment, just more wisdom, peace & joy.

Most people come to advancing awareness to what ever degree they do gradually. As I experience it very few just become enlightened overnight. Byron Katie is an exception.

There is no guarantee that things will stay this way or that big negative challenges are gone forever. Yet a harmonious consciousness invites the majority of what it reflects as it’s beingness as more harmony. I tell people be grateful for all the small things & life will give you bigger things to be grateful for as a natural consequences of gratitude & appreciation.

By the way I thought I did a lot of reading, workshops, seminars, tele conference calls etc. Then I took a workshop on shadow work with Debbie Ford & found she went way beyond anything I did as far as going to all these workshops, reading etc. etc. She even spent $50,000 for one weekend spiritual retreat. Don’t know who it was, but that’s serious money to spend on your spiritual growth yet she’s now a very wealthy women & growing to very deep levels of beingness.

    Tips:

Read the latest guest column http://www.theglobalconversation.com/blog/?cat=170 & go to the changingchange.net & read Neale’s fabulous article “When things are tough, how should we pray? How do we best manifest our chosen reality?” Read his book Happier than God subtitled “A Master’s Manual for Spiritual Awakening.

“Most of the rest of the 7:23 post I agree with too, yet maintain your position is a contradiction.”
Can’t say much more than what I’ve already said on this subject.

“Do you think it’s possible to experience an event, and form a flawlessly neutral opinion of it, neither good or bad; positive or negative?”

Well I suppose you can. I move into neutralism at times rather than judge something as negative & it helps bring peace quicker than going into negativity. It can be a better alternative. We are at choice as to interpret anything as neutral, negative or positive or some kind of combination. I would not worry about some flawless neutral position on something.

I would focus & visualize peace, harmony & great self talk. That’s where I’d rest my attention & focus.

OK. thank you for elaborating on your past. I suppose I could say similarly, from a certain point of view.

I have a followup question related to neutrality. Can you imagine any circumstances where making a neutral judgement is of greater benefit than a positive judgement?

Also, you spoke of how other people have spent enormous $ on personal development. How has your journey unfolded, financially speaking?

“I have a followup question related to neutrality. Can you imagine any circumstances where making a neutral judgement is of greater benefit than a positive judgement?”

I can’t think of any, but certainly think it’s possible.

“Also, you spoke of how other people have spent enormous $ on personal development. How has your journey unfolded, financially speaking?”

Well Neale has a once (maybe twice a year) get together at his house for a few people willing to spend the money to get very deep with him for about 5 days & it’s very expensive. I visualized that possibility to do that without having to spend the money & guess what? After about 2 years a similar opportunity with Neale opened up & I was able to do so.

I believe being an emotional millionaire first most likely will lead to more satisfying abundant incomes. There are non spiritual people who make lot’s of money & spiritual people who also make lot’s of money.

Abundance comes in all forms & emotional abundance & peace are top of my list.
God works & plays with abundance. There is even an abundance of poverty which is a distortion of what most people desire, though some don’t mind poverty, most do & it’s the cause of most of the world’s discontent.

Now. I don’t want this to become the Buzz & Marko show here so let’s leave the dialog for now & perhaps continue at say the Village if you desire.

Is there a ‘God’? If so, who and what is God? Why does God exist? What is God’s purpose? And, most important of all, what does God want? And why? What does it need humanity to be, do, or have?
It´s simple for me to set these books aside, as I haven´t read them, at least not yet. Apart from “When Everything Changes, Change Everything” and the two books in conversations with humanity.
Yes, there is a divine force. For me, divinity is the highest frequency of life-force which is ever evolving into deeper love, higher vibrating light. It is the innermost essence in the phase we call life and also in the phase we call death in any expression or form. Divinity is life vibrating and evolving and exists to learn and evolve and expand beingness.
My guess is divinity exists in a variety of forms and expressions to learn and evolve and be in ever creation of wholeness within and though any form. Another way i can put this is I think divinity exists in any form so it can be released within that particular form. In this releasing, love and light and consciousness transmute that life-form to a more evolved, conscious, loving expression.
I think divinity was a desire to be re-membered within lifeforms, so matter can be spiritualized and realize who and what it is in essence and oneness. I´m short of why divinity wants this… apart from maybe it is because divinity seeks truth about it self because truth naturally promotes freedom and love emerges from freedom. And love is the core of life which flows ever more freely when set free.
I sense the divine in us longs for us to remember the truth of who we are and learn to dare to spiritualize matter while we live here. This we can do by learning not to identify with all our forms but to play within them while we are re-membering the love that we are. I think divinity wants us to have the courage to wake up and realize that the divine essence is within all forms, ourselves included. And to have the courage and heart to learn to live accordingly. Which is easier described in words than done in action, Nevertheless I guess we have promised to do it while being here with a higher part of ourselves. That+s why we´re here, isn´t it, to re-member and to dare do our part for the highest good of all.

Is there a ‘God’? Yes there is a God. However, I could easily have said no and it would not have mattered either way. If so, who and what is God? God is me and she is also you. God inherently is not one thing, but all things. The All in All. God life and all the stuff that makes up life. Why does God exist? She exist to experience Herself. God exist to offer choices in that experience. What is God’s purpose? God has no purpose except the one that I give. And, most important of all, what does God want? And why? God doesn’t want anything because She is sufficient unto Herself. Just my thoughts!

It’s shocking to realize at this stage of my life that even after years of religious “career” I feel totally at a lost for words to answer these seemingly basic questions. Wonder what I would have answered last year, back in my religious days. I’ll give it a try:
Question 1: I do believe there is a God.

Question 2: He is the creator of all things – not sure why He put us here though – weren’t we better off there with Him?
uestion 3: I know He exists because we exist – we can’t be alone or couldn’t have come here of our own accord because if it were so we would’nt leave – die.

Question 4: His purpose – not sure – His purpose is to create? He put us here so we could experience life differently as part of His creation and for Himself to experience what He created.

Question 5: He wants us to know consciously where we came from and live life from that source of knowledge. He wants to experience our co-creation born from our given free will and our essence that we share with Him.

Question 6: Why? Because His nature is to create and re-create. We might not know why because of our up-side down world but for Him it’s all part of creation – ours and His.
    Mind goggling

Sibila- Your words totally resonate with me- and I love them! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!!!

When I read the sentence, “I think divinity was a desire to be re-membered within lifeforms, so matter can be spiritualized and realize who and what it is in essence and oneness.”, I got goosebumps on my arms!

I had a vision of an appendage, jutting out from a massive glowing orb– looking in the mirror– and seeing the large brilliantly shining orb behind it, feeling a wondrous realization…and the large orb seeing itself, in that reflection– and increasing in size, with happiness and wonder. The words do not do it justice, but the vision was moving:) <3

    Dear Laura
I´m deeply greatfull for your response – thank you for your time in give it to me. I feel called to be part of this global conversation so here I am.:-) Actually my sentence should have said “I think divinity has….” But it seems my intended meaning came across nonetheless. This really touches my heart, as it has taken me years to trust I can write and more years to have the courage to write and to have the courage to share what I write with others, as i have doubted and been fearfull for far too long of being visible. So – the writer that I am at heart is healed some by your feed-back.
I know it can be so very hard to describe inner experiences in words. A tibetan lama here in Denmark once told me, that languages have words for the reality they describe. He could not for instance describe what he wanted at that particular time in Danish. I was then his secretary and writing a latter for him.
The lama continued: “Of course, if I use English words in this letter you are writing for me know, the monks who will read it will get my meaning. If I were to use Tibetan words here, my letter would be precise and the monks would get my meaning instantly. Tibetan is a vastly rich language with precise descriptions of inner realities, you see. But then again, you do not write Tibetan and I do not know how to write a computer, so we´ll do our best, please continue in English…” he said to me.
This taught me so much about how words matter. The wording we use describes our reality also. They are part of our tools with which we frame our perspectives… Let´s keep in touch if you feel like it, Laura.
    wishing you a heartwarming day,

Teachers of truth are among life´s real treasures and Lakha has definetely shone a bright light in Dnemark for years. Now, he has decided to live in Nepal from October to April and in Denmark from May to September. allthough he is happily married here in Denmark, he has missed home, and now he lives as close to home as he is allowed to, since he is not allowed to enter Tibet. I find it hugely smart that they time being in Denmark in the Summertime, Danish winters challenge anyone who has not grownup in them…

In my experience the divine is everything, so because most of us do not have the brain capacity to “see” or conceive of everything (too vast), we only see what we want to see in the divine…

Some will see a father, a mother, a judge, an executioner, a son, a daughter, a donkey, a teacher, an impersonal force or energy, etc etc…

Some insist that the divine is good…but according to whose definition? Is the zebra that is torn apart and eaten alive by wild African dogs thinking about the goodness of the divine for having created these dogs? Is the person whose entire family is wiped out in a natural disaster thanking God for having created such a destructive force of nature and taught such a harsh “lesson” in loss and grief?

Isn’t the divine too vast to be boxed in our very, VERY limited concepts of goodness?

Furthermore, because everything we know is dual or polarized, conceiving of a “good” God automatically and unconsciously causes us to create an evil entity in our unconscious, something that is the opposite of or complements God (if God means goodness, then something like Satan must be created to mean evil, and one cannot be without the other in our unconscious mind).

The unconscious is much more powerful than the conscious mind any day, and even those who profess not to believe in a devil or in hell create these things in their unconscious by mentally defining divine goodness and a heaven.

What is the “true” Heaven? It is found in the union of good and evil. It is found when there are no more separation, no more judgments.

Many believe that the word judgment implies the definition of something negative….but saying that something is good or positive is also a judgment, and create its polarized opposite or complementary force or energy.

It is precisely because religions teach that God is good and loving that believers have a very difficult time dealing with their own pain and suffering, which they perceive to be “unjust”, undeserved (because they primitively see pain as punishment).

Individuals will experience that particular aspect of the divine that best fits their needs, or their illusions, and build their world based on these most commonly held perceptions at a given time and place.

It would benefit us more, perhaps, to try to understand life rather than what we call “God”, although they are not separate. All beliefs, all definitions are, by necessity, limited, and I do not believe that the divine can be limited, or contained by any concept, however grand and liberated.

Nevertheless I understand the need to break open the walls of idiotic religious dogma, that have kept humanity prisoner of its own primal and primitive fears for too long.
